This is my first post on here and looking for ideas on artist to come play in the area.

A little background, my good friend owns a well established "honky tonk" in the SE Louisiana area. It is the ultimate Redneck bar. Recently he had John Conlee, Johnny Lee (coming again this month) and several others.

We have been discussing some newer acts that still have that old sound. He recently booked a well established singer for a concert in April. I am trying to think of some younger country music acts that will draw a crowd but staying away from the pop country.

Give me some ideas that will draw a good crowd for him.

Bob Browning usually brings a good crowd to Bogie's and Brightside

I was thinking a more well known name. He might be good but looking at a bigger singer at this time. Jamey Johnson is coming in April. Thinking along those lines.

I like them. Also been listening to blackberry smoke. Just dont know how well that would do here right now.

I also mentioned possibly Randy Houser. He is kinda poppish but also plays some good stuff.

We've had him to New Orleans before. Great singer/songwriter that's had many songs recorded by others, such as "Redneck Yacht Club" and "Riding with Private Malone". Great performer, great sense of humor that comes across in his songs...see Djibouti, a song he wrote when touring the Middle East entertaining the troops.

What about Randy Rogers? He's been around a lot longer than Turnpike so he's pretty well-established, even around there. I feel like he sells pretty well in the BR area so he may do okay. He also may be considerably more expensive than TT.

Not really a Blackberry Smoke fan...I saw them when they were first starting out, though, so maybe they've gotten better since then.

EDIT: I accidentally spilled a drink on the floor of Randy Houser's bus once and a member of his crew was super mean to me so I say don't book him just on principle. It was an accident and I cleaned it up!!

I would probably not consider him a "traditional" country artist. I know he writes country songs now but I can imagine he falls within the category of pop country.

I could be wrong, though. And his pedal steel/dobro player is a complete stud, so there's that.
