| Federal employees whining-- (Posted on 3/1/13 at 8:18 am)
LINK They need to be reminded of the damage the crap that the government did resulting in their jobs did to the working, private sector. You know things like wars all over the Middle East, Freddie and Fannie, mountains of regulations ect. I hate families of government workers are losing income and I encourage them to seek out second jobs as soon as possible. I have little patience for those that whine because the burden on tax payers--mainly through less debt created---is a tad bit lighter today. Isn't it amazing not a single politician is bragging that taxpayers are going to have a smaller burden than they would have otherwise. How twisted have our priorities become?

I lost 50% of my income when the economy went south and had to transfer to another state to keep my job. A ton of people I know in the same industry faced losses as well. I am happy to have a job and be able to provide for my family without having to be in the free cheese line. They need to sack up and face some hard times too. In this share the wealth society we are pushing on people, when times are bad, you get to share that too.

More and more it looks like the "government elites" vs. the private sector in America.

My father is a Federal employee. He started with next to nothing in terms of salary almost 30 years ago. For nearly 30 years he worked his arse off and rose through the ranks. He wasn't an arse kisser, he didn't talk his way into promotions, he worked his way into them. Now he brings home six figures. Yeah...he didn't do it in the private sector, but how is what he did and what he went through any different from what an ordinary Joe does out there in a non-government job?

He sounds like a fine man. And thanks for asking. The answer lies in the word RISK. I bet you can figure the rest out.

Have you ever personally witnessed the work ethic and productivity of government workers? To call many of them workers is a joke.

So...just because he didn't take a risk that makes him inferior to a private employee who did? I'm a federal employee, I'm in the military; am I taking less of a risk then someone who, say, works for Blackwater?

Yes, I have. And while quite a few of them suck at life and shouldn't even hold a job, there are quite a few more who actually do their job and do their job well.

So if someone works for a private company doing the exact same job as your dad and the company is losing money should the company cut expenses to meet revenue?

A private company doesn't do the exact same job as my father. He works for the Federal Aviation Administration and his job is exclusive to the government.

That awkward moment when befuddled Employees of The State Behemoth realize the laws of The Universe apply to them as well.

My point was, cost cutting happens every day in the private sector. Government jobs should not be any different.

My father has yet to complain about the whole thing. He believes, as does you all, that he and the federal government is being used as a pawn by politicians who are undermining their own employees just to prove a political point.

Very true. If every govt. employee would use their furlough day spent calling and emailing their congressman and senator asking why some of the ridiculous items we spend money on are more important than their job then we might get somehwere. Is it ok that we are giving Egypt jets instead of keeping some of our DOD employees in a job?

That's very easy for you to say. My father has had plenty of experience with cost cutting in his career with the feds.

I wrote a delightful Haiku for your Gramps and you earlier in the week, and as a small gift, I present it to you humbly now, as a token of my appreciation: My Federal Job Does not insulate my arse Reality Check.

It's not easy...it's a fact. If a company cant meet expenses, shite gets cut. Why is government special?

Nothing personal, but I really don't believe this. Also, how much does your father put towards his pension directly from his income, 5, 10, 15%? Or is that perk of the FAA provided by taxpayers?
