FWIW, his raise isn't as much of an over-reaction as Ole Miss giving Fresus 2 million for winning 6 games.

Are you guys seriously arguing that coaches pay should be essentially on commission? If they don't pay competitive salaries, they run the risk of someone hiring the coach away. LSU made Nick Saban the 3rd highest paid coach in CFB when he was hired after the 99 season when he finsished 2nd in the big 10, his best year by far. Clearly Freeze and sumlin have their programs headed in the right direction.

Chizik and Nutt just took their former employers to the cleaners when the initial results looked good but it turned out neither knew how to maintain a real program

Geez. Just over a year ago, second in the SEC West was good enough to make the BCS title game, even without playing in the SEC title game. (Insert mulligan BS comment here.)
The SEC West is the toughest division in the toughest conference in football.
Of course, didn't we just finish second in the SEC West last year...and ended up in the Chicken Bowl?
