Do you feel that LM’s friendliness towards players is allowing the players to get away with taking easy games off? As we all know, LM’s friendliness with player is one of the many reasons that kids want to call LSU football their home. Does anyone feel that Les should look at this situation and re-evaluate this aspect of his coaching philosophy?

Does he get the blame as well for the fans taking off those same games Sam did?

I recall a few games this year where Sonic Sam did not start and never could figure out why. Now we know. Coach Miles holds players accountable regardless of how friendly he is.

No, he is going to blame me. I did take a few games off when I couldn't get to BR for the game. For this, I apologize to Tiger Nation.

Agreed. He didn't even play the 1st 2 quarters of the opener. He must slack off in practice too. This thread is dumb.

a resounding NO! miles has his style and he has to employ it or he wouldn't be miles. it works for him and it works for the players. these are not hi school kids; they are YOUNG MEN THAT NEED TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN BEHAVIOR. as a side, why is it that when someone makes a mistake, it is ALWAYS SOMEONE ELSE'S FAULT. it is NOT the coaches fault whenever a player uses poor judgement. i would much rather my son (grandson) play for les miles than an autocratic intimidating control freak coach. the players ARE ACTUALLY STUDENTS and college is a time to learn to grow up and prepare for the cold cruel world.

Les Miles probably spent 10 minutes a week around Sam. If anyone should be offended by Sam's comments, it should be Chavis and his position coach, they are the ones who actually spent time with the players, during the week. You people act like big time college football is run like pee-wee football. The head coach is out there, but he isn't nearly as involved as the position coaches and cood.

If there were many more examples of this I might buy into this ridiculous theory. Instead it is just the one guy.

If one person in a classroom fails a test is it the teacher's fault?

Good point. Now, this isn't what the OP talked about it,but its always galled me that if some professor gives F's and D's to half his or her class they are hailed as "tough". But if an athlete makes poor grades its a reflection on the ath dept and his coach's priorities. Odd.

If you have ever been to a practice you would see Les isn't always hunky dory with the players. If they frick up he gets in their face and its scary.

This thread is exactly what's wrong with some of our fans.

I agree with some of the earlier post. This is likely why Lavar Edwards started some games and Sam did not. As far as Miles friendliness, these are young men, but still men and are accountable for themselves at this point. They get out of it what they put into it. Dont believe the coaches are to blame considering he did not start some of those games(possible discipline for lack of focus/effort). Makes me believe Sam could have came close to leading the nation in sacks and solidified his draft status even more so with the proper effort.
