I just saw a picture on a La. bass fishing reports website where two guys had over 30 bass laid out on a board. They were bragging that they caught them this weekend at Toldeo Bend. This is not the first time I've seen people showing off a ton of bass from the Bend. The way I read the reg, the limit is 8 fish over 14", "in the aggregate", which I assume means you can only have eight in the ice chest even if there's two or more of you in the boat. Is that right?

I understand it to be 8 per man. But I have researched it in a while.

Well, it could be that they had a couple days worth in the ice chest at the camp and took pics before cleaning. As far as limits, it is 8 unless you have 4 Kentucky largemouths which allows you to keep 4 of those and six regular.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say how much I hate when people take pictures of their fishing/hunting activities and post them on facebook.

The limit is 8/person per day. The "in aggregate" is referring to largemouth and spotted bass together having a limit of 8/day. Largemouth have a size minimum of 14". Spotted bass have no minimum length requirements.

ETA: I was wrong about the possession limit. On Toledo Bend you can only have 1 days worth of fish on you at any time, regardless of how long you have been there.

And don't forget to count the guy who was holding the camera.

Nope. Spots have no size limit. Here's a snapshot of the regs for Toledo:

I guess I need to inform my brother of this. We caught several spotted bass in deep water last weekend, and we threw a couple back.

Those small little spots make a great little fillet for frying up.

Anything 12" and shorter goes in whole. I love whole fried fish.

To Salmon: We need to hit the bar pit when the bluegill start spawning. I want to fry some bream whole.

This is correct

I had never heard it before either until I ust read it this morning. It's on page 26 of the regs I linked to in my post above.

It says:

quote:

On Toledo Bend Reservoir, an angler may only have
one day’s bag limit of any and all species of
fish.

Here's a snapshot of it:

Wonder if that literally means "on toledo bend" like while on the lake? If not, Ive been way illegal many many days. We fish for 3-5 days and bring home all filets.

I would assume they mean if you're staying on the lake. Because no one can ever possess more than the daily limit while physically in a boat on the water. So this must apply to people staying for multiple days and fishing the lake. Once you leave the area, it goes back to the 2 day possession rule. Otherwise people would just claim they caught the other day's limit at some body of water not named Toledo Bend...

Thats crazy. Even at a 2 bag limit, we are almost always over.

i would also like to express my displeasure when people do this same thing and brag about their catch during spawn or prespawn like they did something great
