Question about Jurassic Park

When the raptors try to break in the computer room, why does the old man on the phone scream "DON'T!!!" after Dr. Grant unloads 3 rounds through the glass? Did he not want his creations killed? Or what he scared for the life of his grand kids?

Im not sure what he was shouting, but I guess "Grant" makes more sense. IDK why, but I've always wondered about that.

In the book he was a complete douche and actually gets killed by Compys.

The book is great, but it's darker than the movie. Definitely worth the read.

This and the book is much different such as Tim is the older kid and the two find a little raptor.
Also Nedry's death is much more disturbing in the book.

I thought that the raptors couldn't break through the thick glass, but Grant shot the glass and allowed the Raptors to break through and get into the control room.
The yell was because the old man knew they were safe in the room until Grant have them a way in.
