7' MH.... Wright and McGill makes a good rod for around 100 bucks. I have one and a Falcon that I paid twice as much for and I can't tell much difference in the two.

Just bought a Falcon Bucoo micro 7'. I think it's medium.
Caught a 5 and a 4 Sunday with no problems.
Absolutely love it...looking to buy a few more...

I have several Kistler rods and really like them. The Magnesium series is nice.

Thanks
So, I shouldn't go any lower than medium power?

My buddy who fishes the elite series is sponsored by Dobyn's rods. He got me the buddy special for 1/2 price or I would have never tried one.
Anyway, It has become my favorite rod over my carrotstix, falcon, and allstar rods.
They are right in your budget... check them out.

Nah.
I have a 7' medium light rod and it's good for topwater and that's about it.
If you get a shorter rod (I'm talking 6') then you can get away with a lighter rod.
My powpow who is what I consider to be an expert bass fishermen prefers short floppy rods for most things he fishes.

Basically the more you pay the lighter overall weight of the rod.I like American Rodsmith myself, Med Heavy wwith a fast tip will allow you to cast lighter baits more accurately and have plenty of backbone to flip big baits in heavier cover. I think more importantly is the line you use, braid for anything offcolor and min.20lb test Flouro for everything else. Good Luck

This is what I use for everything except for worm. I find it easier to cast where I want, and I get the feel the bait/fish more.
