I have had both. My black one is flaking the powder coat. My aluminum one just faded and lost its shine.... Six one way, a half a dozen the other my man.

Chrome or black depends somewhat on the color of your truck. Definitely get one with a rail (good place for keeping a cooler, etc.) I sell Cam-Locker and have never had the first complaint about them.

I've had my R&K since '97, would bet I could put most of the above in it. It wasn't cheap then, won't be cheap now. It is however 16+ years old and going strong, so.
It's aluminum, no color match problems when you get a new truck.

I have a black one from Tracor Supply. I like it a lot. Only cons are bed space. I can't fit my 4 wheeler back there anmore but hated doing it anyway.

RKI makes the best ones right now, with Weatherguard a close second. Those steel ones weigh about 1900lbs though.
They have a Weatherguard at Tractor Supply in Plaquemine that fits my truck for $700. Gonna buy it as soon as I get $675 more dollars

I had a RKI steel box since 2003 but it cracked the bed on 2/3 trucks I put it on. I put it on a work trailer and put the weather guard on my truck.
I got a helluva deal on that Weatherguard though. $200 used and it looked brand new.

I have a black truck and I went with a chrome weather guard. I think the chrome looks better on a black truck.
