think he hits better than bunting & can use his speed with Sciambra behind him

I think Sciambra is best at leadoff for now.
I bet JaCoby gets moved up to 2 and Laird gets moved down some.

Sciambra has a ridiculous OBP. No need to move him.

sciambra's on base percentage is ridiculous right now....why would you take him out of lead off? or do you know how baseball works?

Well the bunting rhing isnt his fault, its mainieri. Sciambra so far seems like a great leadoff guy. He takes a ton of pitches and is finding ways on base.

Yea, with an OBP of .586 let's keep him where he is.

I was actually thinking this yesterday. Sciambra might be ideal in the 2 spot, but he is really performing well leading off. He is great at working the count, it seems like he goes 3-2 every at bat. And he gets on base a lot!!! Those two qualities make for a great leadoff hitter.

Laird is not getting the bunts down and moving the runners over like you would want in your 2 spot. However, I think it's more about not understanding his role than lack of ability. It looks like he is trying bunt for a hit more than sacrificing...a problem I think should be easy to correct.

I need to see them both against better competition before I say one is better than the other. And it doesn't matter what I think, I'm not the coach.

too many strikeouts to hit in the 2 hole, although he has been better this year

You shouldn't be commenting on baseball threads.

Laird is fine where he is, no reason to move Sciambra.

he's our best or second best power hitter. he's not going to hit 2nd. that would be a huge mistake.

Is someone actually advocating that we take a guy that sees an average of about 6 pitches per PA and reaches base 60% of the time out of the leadoff spot?

i think the OP was thinking only about Laird and what might benefit him and didnt take the actual lineup of the whole team into account

Sure, it MIGHT be better for LAIRD to be at leadoff, but he sure as shite wont be better than Sciambra so it doesnt benefit the team as a whole
