| Vatican lashes out at media: "false" reports about Pope Benedict's resignation (Posted on 2/23/13 at 4:50 pm)
quote:
Video Via CBS: VATICAN CITY The Vatican lashed out Saturday at the media for what it said has been a run of defamatory and false reports before the conclave to elect Pope Benedict XVI’s successor, saying they were an attempt to influence the election. Italian newspapers have been rife with unsourced reports in recent days about the contents of a secret dossier prepared for the pope by three cardinals who investigated the origins of the 2012 scandal over leaked Vatican documents. The reports have suggested the revelations in the dossier, given to Benedict in December, were a factor in his decision to resign. The pope himself has said merely that he doesn’t have the “strength of mind and body” to carry on.

you will not influence those cardinals, I fully suspect they don't really listen to the media and they are spending their time discerning the will of the Holy Spirit. the media likes to try and get their fingers in it but they never can.

What I don't get about all the media reports is the lack of attention to three facts: 1) Benedict tried several times to resign while serving under JPII with JPII refusing the resignations. 2) His visits to the tomb of Celestine. 3) His affirmative statements regarding papal resignation. I made it a point to listen to the catholic xm station in the aftermath of his recognition. It seemed as though the people who actually studied Benedict weren't surprised one bit.

I can assure you holy spirit or anything remotely close to the divine will or God's purpose will NOT influence who you all elect to lead Catholics

Thank you for this informed post. Now wait for gay-pedophile-married-priest-Illuminati-all-seeing-eye-blackheli comments.

I'll say this if Cardinal dolan is surprised about something pretty much everyone in the Church is surprised about it. This came out of NOWHERE no one expected the Pope to step down even with his poor health. Even the people in the room with him when the announcement was made (those who understand latin) were shocked at the announcement. they may have not sounded shocked and when you study it it makes perfect sense but it still came out of left field.

History is tough in many cases. Does not change the fact that there are good, honest people in the Catholic Church and many other religions. Your hatred is disturbing. Keep in mind that there good people in all Faiths, even those that still cut off people's hands for theft.

Probably not the intent of the OP but read this book. What has not been infiltrated nowadays?

The Catholic Church has certainly been infiltrated at some level just because every organization has as you correctly alluded to. The thing that's odd about the Catholic Church is that they never acknowledge fault. Widespread cover up of pedophilia? It's not our fault. It's merely proof that homosexuals are evil.

I have heard about this kinda stuff before heard it go pretty serious. Stuff like they would send communist into seminaries giving them certain instructions on what to do. I have heard people say that this infiltration is what could behind some of these real liberal movements in the Church. I don't think there are many if any of them in the college of cardinals but you never know. After giving a couple of very good Popes I bet the next one will be pretty good as well. btw I would love to read this book I just have like 200 other things that need to get done before I can do much pleasure reading. I have a very busy life.

Love the way you twist that. Your "church" does all these horrible things and much more, I just report it, then all of a sudden I am the one who is hateful. Gotta love that. . The Vatican is evil, it was from the very beginning, yet good people remain naive.

Right It's as if the Spanish Inquisition was your fault and the church is some all holy enlightened entity that never did anything wrong. Catholics basically invented half of the most vile torture methods on the planet.

It's a Catholic baby...yall can rock it. But from someone on the outside of Catholic orthodoxy, but in the Faith (Jesus Christ, Only Begotten)...I have to say that I agree with Ethan on this one. It is is the will of the Holy Spirit to elect leaders who engage in blatant coverups and enable to molestation of children for the *sake* of the credibility of the Church....then it really goes to whether or not the Church is being led by the Holy Spirit...or it's OPPOSITE. Christ warned of this very thing. Time will tell. The 'trial by fire' will flush this stuff out; 'shouted from the rooftops'...'by their fruits ye will know them'...'better to have a millstone hung around their neck and cast into the sea than to harm a little one'. Prophesied to be in full view. Let every person choose just who and what they support. And be judged accordingly. Ugly stuff.
