Slugs cost so damn much but Im certain #7 or 8 would just piss of anyone who is really intent on causing trouble.

I am of the opinion that damn near anything living on this planet cannot sustain a point blank shot from a 12 GA shotgun.

7 1/2 will kill anything you need at close quarters. Blew the head off a coyote with it a 15 yards once. But I'd think buckshot is the best.

ETA: coyote was shot with a 20 ga

well that is true at close range... bird shot even.

Im thinking a lil more distance... 30ft + a good carhart jacket will stop bird shot after that kind of distance

Yeah, but it would be said that someone 30 feet away does not pose an immediate threat to your life by the liberal attorneys looking to make an example out of a homeowner irresponsibly protecting their possessions.

If you are protecting your home and have a family i would use #7 shot or you risk shooting someone you don't want. If you think that shot won't do much try shooting a melon from 20ft and your fears will be put to rest.

I hate to say it, but the days of simply shooting someone for breaking into your house are close to being over, IMO. This government is doing everything it can to take all rights away from law abiding, tax paying citizens like all of us here.

I keep 00 buckshot in a shotgun in my closet, fwiw. I also have a loaded pistol in each nightstand and several other guns loaded throughout the house, should I need them WTSHTF.

I can't tell if his right nipple is exposed on the right side or if that is more pellet holes.

This is what I've got in a 20 gauge.

I believe this will drop anyone I want from 0 - 50' away.

Covers my house perfectly.
