Sod for my new house

I have 2 questions:

Where is the best place in south LA to buy sod?

I've been reading a lot about St. Augustine, centipede, and even empire zoysia. I live in Houma so I'm sure the soil is pretty fertile. I can't make up my mind on the type I should go with, I mainly want something that is a deep green color and I don't mind if I have to mow it often. Any suggestions?

I bought 2k worth of centipede last year because it grows so slow and I hate mowing.

It is horrible at traffic resistance. My two small dogs have it looking like 30 year old shag carpet. Completely flattened.

Zoysia is a pretty slow grower. It does well in heavy shade but dries out if in the sun and not watered in first 2 years

Go with the st aug, but remember all grass will burn up if not watered

I've been reading that there isn't any St. Augustine seed just sod but someone mentioned they know of a few places that sell the seed. Has anyone heard of seeding St. Augustine? Sod may be a little more than I can afford after we've nearly drained our savings on everything else for the house.

It doesn't seed, just grows from other grass. You can get plugs if money is tight and give it time to spread...

I have seen St Aug seed. Not sure how good it will work.

I would get the plugs, that is a good ides. Place those every 2' and will have a solid yard in two months for minimal cash.
