2013 ecoboost. didn't realize it until my engine light turned on today. went through my receipts for expense reports. i had burned 1/4 of a 36 gallon tank. put octane booster and sea foam in it before i topped off with 93 premium.
i know... sea foam fixes everything, but will i be ok? i plan on burning it down to half a tank and filling up w/ premium again. i shouldn't experience damage should i?
and for the record i just clicked the lowest octane out of the four not even realizing it was e-85. some gas stations up here have up to five different octane rating per pump. im an idiot and have been sweating bullets all day. the local ford dealership told me i must drain my tank immediately, but he could not tell me for sure if it would damage or corrode any parts.

I'm not sure I would chance it for none other than warranty reasons

Need to move out of that POS state.
If shite hits the fan vehicle wise I'd plead the 5th on everything when brought in. Not the 2nd, we clear?

haha, im in north dakota. aspen, california is a dumb and dumber quote. i'm pleading the 5th like a mofo if something goes down.

i used ethanol e-85. i just used premium to try and offset the octane difference. it runs on reg 87 which is what i usually run. premium is the recommended per ford
ETA: from what ive read it's just the water in the exhaust from the E-85 tripping the O2 sensor. once the fuel cycles out the check engine light will turn off :fingerscrossed:

The octane rating of E85 is over 100. The 85 means that it has 15% ethanol. I think the actual octane may be close to 107.

its 105. probably closer to 102-103 by the time it goes through the fuel filter and detonates
they have a few gas station that sell 85 an hr away but im not driving that far as i don't see the difference being noticeable. just gonna stick to 87

I would hope that one tank of e85 wouldn't harm your truck.

Wait, you have to put premium in the ecoboost fords? That shite is expensive, what type of MPG do they get?

Backwards. E85 is 85% ethanol, 15% gas.

Yea I noticed that after I posted that I flipped it. I was mainly wanting to point out that the octane is really high. I thought he was under the impression that the low octane would hurt his engine.

I believe that it will just make your engine run like shite until it's burned off. The big difference in flex fuel vehicles is the rubber and plastic components that degrade in the presence of ethanol. If you burn it offquickly that houldnt be that bi of a problem.

don't have to but it is recommended. i got 20mpg on the highway at 75. levelled and put 35's on it and i get around 16 now on the interstate.
ETA: its 4wd

I would syphon the gas out as best as possible, then top off with the correct gas.

I wouldn't try to burn the remaining 3/4 of a tank.

Why not just siphon the gas out?

I'll make 3.

But in all seriousness, I thought the only difference between flex fuel vehicles and non flex fuel vehicles were the gaskets.

The flex fuel motors have gaskets that the ethanol wont eat away. The others don't.
