| Do conservatives not allow thier children to see Robin Hood? (Posted on 2/20/13 at 2:27 pm)
Steal from the rich and give to the poor. That socialist puke makes a mockary of all the hard work of the rich. King John was a hero and a fine leader; having to combat scum like Robin Hood.

More like stole from tax collectors and gave it back to the original earners.

I would say he was trying to create an even marketplace.

I'f you think that story can be compared to socialism and what is currently going on you are insanely dense.

When I was a kid I remember questioning the whole Robin Hood "steal from the rich and give to the poor" theme. I told parents/friends that I understand he's trying to help the poor which is great, but isn't stealing just wrong? I was confused by this fairy tail when I was young. ETA: Then realized later in life that the money might have actually been originally stolen from the people in the form of taxes.

Because I have too much time and I am a weirdo; I have thought about this before. Really a lot in the story of robin hood that both liberals and conservatives can like. Socialist "take from the rich give to the poor" thing. But also the economy was getting crushed by overtaxation thing.

Robin Hood was a libertarian, FWIW.

I was too. I always just thought the a-hole king was taking everyone's money (rich, poor, middle class) and keeping it for himself and RH was just giving it back to everyone.

That's not racebaiting either. Wait til Brannigan sees his account was hijacked.

Robin Hood was a work of fiction anyway. It's a liberals wet dream.

I think you miss understand Robin Hood. The rich that Robin Hood was stealing from was the government who had taken too much from the people.

Really? I thought it would be a nightmare for them if someone stole their tax "revenue."

I'm pretty sure that in the original writings, Robin Hood confiscated gold from an oppressive government and gave it back to the population that had been taxed into poverty. It was Hollywood that re-wrote the legend to appeal to a liberal audience.
