WBRZ just released some emails (BRPD chief/mayor related)

Wow, it looks like Kip's side of the story is looking more and more suspect.

LINK

quote:

As the positive tone in the emails continued to evaporate, the Chief was apparently being blamed for things beyond his control. An email dated Feb. 4, 2013 between White and Daniel read: "I would respectfully request that you refrain from holding this office responsible should things go awry when we, the command staff are absent from the decision making process," White wrote. Another email also details these issues. "My culpability lies in believing my orders would be carried out to the letter... My motto now is, trust by verify; don't expect what you don't inspect," White stated.

quote:

City leaders told News 2 at least eight emails were withheld from us, citing an open investigation and confidential information. White's attorney, Jill Craft, said those emails should have been made public to News 2. She called it "unacceptable."

re: WBRZ just released some emails (BRPD chief/mayor related)

You know what bothers me about this whole situation? Now this shite becomes news when there are TONS of more important things that should be addressed in this city (Crime, Traffic, Trash, Education, etc).

BUT NO! We are busy bickering about who the damn police chief should be. Why the hell did this need to be done right now? What is the importance of removing White from the position, when there hasn't been adequate time for him to actually perform the duties. Was the police union tired of being assigned to the dangerous 70805 zip code to bust real criminals and wanted to have it's members to go back to writing inspection sticker tickets?

We live among morons people, absolute racist idiots. It doesn't look like this city can ever move past this issue. We have been dealing with it forever.

White needs to watch his back from now on though. Kip isn't stupid enough to do anything with the public eye watching them like hawks.

White could have just walked away. Kip would still Kip, and everything would have been fine. White pushed the issues and conspiracy about his removal. In wake of Chris Dorner and corrupted cities and PD's; surely you can see why this would be a topic of interest.

I don't get the racist allegations slant to this whole thing.
Someone please help me out. What's racist, who's racist, what is the racism about and how is it affecting the BRPD?

Anybody with insight know what the end result could\will be after all this shite settles. I assume White will not get his job back

White has to apply for a job somewhere else now. frick Kip! White is trying to salvage a decent resume' for somewhere else. I would fight my arse off too. The Taste of Tailgaiting was the the DWI checkpoint in question if anybody hasn't figured that out yet.

I'll assume with you. White isn't afraid to take a few down with him though. My curiosity has led me to this question:

What does white think will happen either way now?

If white loses, he still stirred up so much shit, that Kip won't ever forget it.
If white wins(and get's his job back) his job/daily life will be under constant scrutiny and abuse. Living hell....
Either way, Kip wins, imo.

ETA: I don't think that White has an Ace in the hole against Kip. The only way that White will get his job back now, is if he gets Kip out of office, with some sort of scandal evidence, and has someone as Mayor who supports his cause. I think that White brought out all the big guns at the recent hearing.

WBRZ.com has the raw video of the hearing from yesterday.

From the bit I watched the only actual racism I heard was when a Caucasian BR Police Officer said ...and I'm paraphrasing "I have to stand over a dead n word on my wife's birthday ." in reference to having to work a BR murder of an African American on a day the officer was scheduled to be off from work.

The cop apparently also called the dead guys man junk a "chicken" ?

That hearing was just weird

He goes bud heavy. Even when BR is dealing with a tropical storm he doesn't mind vacationing in Dallas on the dime of special interest.

Yes, I see why it would be a topic of interest. I just wanted to mention that there are many more important things in this city that need to be addressed before a police chief gets his 15 minutes of fame. No matter what reason he got fired for, what has been done is done. He isn't getting his job back, and even if he did, it wouldn't be worth it, like you said.

Kip wins either way. Must have been a damn good reason to fire him.

Thanks for clarification. I'm quite sure all police officers are getting kinda tired of working black homicides.

third way is "I'm going down so I might as well bring someone with me."

Probably what he is thinking. Not sure how, or if, his pension will play, but I would imagine his principles are what he is guarding.

I know deceased former Jefferson Parrish Sheriff Harry Lee was controversial .. but he made a very true statement about black on black crime back in the day

I honestly wonder what effect this had on the BRAVE project. I think it would be interesting to see the number of cops on the street in N. BTR before the chief's firing v. after his firing. Maybe nothing is there, but it would be worth investigating.
