Sunday's hit piece on Ted Cruz

Frank Bruni

NYT. Sorry it's a day late but it's the only way I can get the paper for free. Tomorrow I'll get Monday's paper and link the daily hit piece on Cruz.

Lot of butthurt in that article.

Glad to see he's there to do his fricking job, and not play nice with other members of the "club."

I can see why there's a lot of rustled jimmies.

re: Sunday's hit piece on Ted Cruz

quote:

Just six weeks since his arrival on Capitol Hill, he’s already known for his naysaying, his nit-picking and his itch to upbraid lawmakers who are vastly senior to him, who have sacrificed more than he has and who deserve a measure of respect, or at least an iota of courtesy. Courtesy isn’t Cruz’s métier.

quote:

He sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, and during its final meeting on Tuesday about Hagel’s nomination, he made such nefarious and hectoring insinuations about Hagel’s possible corruption by foreign influences that McCain, who’d gleefully raked Hagel over the coals himself, more or less told Cruz to cool it. It was an unforgettable moment, and one that Republicans shouldn’t soon forget, because Cruz, 42, isn’t simply the latest overeager beaver to start gnawing his way through the halls of Congress. He’s a prime illustration of what plagues the Republican Party and holds it back.

Good Lord. The one thing that everyone can agree with, is that senior level politicians need to be held accountable, and need to be challenged, and when Cruz does it, this pussy calls him out for being to mean to them? What a joke.

I say Cruz for POTUS.

It's just like everything. Dissent is patriotic...as long as it's done by a liberal.

Freshman senators can speak out of turn...as long as you're Al Frankin.

If someone on right disagrees, they are racist or obstructionist. Cruz is a wingnut who is rude.

Because he's actually questioning life long politicians??? I wish more would do this.

Okay, so now we have the evolution of Michelle Bachman and Sarah Palin in Ted Cruz. Makes for good TV!

A lot of that article is boiler plate liberal claptrap, however, Cruz's accusatory question was utterly baseless and meant to impugn character and loyalty.

He is questioning the only decent politician in Obama’s organization. If he is serious about foreign funds in politics he should go after effective taking money from Israel

Just as the country benefits from a balance of powers between branches of government, it’s best served by two viable parties in healthy tension, each checking any capacity in the other for ideological indulgence and excess.

This line of thought honestly confuses me. If "ideological excess" by either party is bad, does that not inherently mean that both parties have bad ideologies? If yes, why do people keep voting for them?

Amen to that! The entrenchement needs to end. In BOTH parties.

Cruz is a part of the problem. I don't get the valorization of another symptom rather than investing the time in a solution.

The funny thing, Cwill, is that yesterday I posted that the NYT ripped him in the Sunday edition. When you asked for a link I realized I read the Sat edition on Sunday. So as it turns out even when I make a mistake it's not a mistake.

I find it refreshing that Cruz has not succumbed to the Washington elitist hierarchy. So many people have been in Washington for so long, they have forgotten what they are there for and who they represent. I like the young fiery Republican Senators.......we need more of them.
