I actually think there was a huge risk involved with Alleva going this route. The pressure may have been there internally on the basketball front from the Dale's of the world but it was certainly not the case for the majority.

With that said, this has been a fantastic hire to this point, the recruiting is the best it's ever been, and the future is extremely bright. Just need the fans to show up.

Fans are starting to show up. When we got there around tip off, the line from the ticket office was past the ramp.

Didn't ex players hate Trent?
i never understood the love trent got on this board. he was like the anti-Miles.....no results but he gave a good speech so he got a free pass for way too long.

Alleva pulled the trigger on that one as well. 1 yr late but thats acceptable. the same thing with the Women's coach 1 yr late. But that just may be his style give everyone 1 more yr to change his mind.
His terminated coaches were all replaced by upgrades.
Its good to have an AD committed to winning and really helping out the programs by his decision making.

He came in and won the SEC first thing with a team that Brady basically stunk with the year before. Under Trent our talent level really regressed though. I am amazed at where we are so fast with Jones.

Honestly, when is the last time people were talking up LSU basketball like this? Not even after our 06 final 4 run IMO.

In the SEC only! Most definately not Duke.

LOL i liked that; that was some funny sh@t.

Thanks for keeping it in perspective for us. We Cajuns can get carried away from time to time.

Peace

the atmosphere this year. "Fun"

It's fun or easy to play any game when little or nothing is expected of you and playing .500 ball in a bad conference gets you praise. I'm not saying this team doesn't deserve some praise, but adding The Man to JJ at this time is not something I'm willing to do.

The JJ hire was understandable given the sorry shape of the program and the fact no big name coach was going to want to step into the mess left behind by the last two coaches unless LSU was willing to open their wallet like never before to hire a basketball coach and they weren't.

I liked the JJ hire given what was going on and I'm pleased to see the teams play, but I'm going to wait a couple years to describe him as The Man.

After 06, we knew we were rebuilding. And no one thought TT would blow up like he did in 06. There is more excitement going into next season then we have had since Dale Brown was here probably.

Playing .500 ball, with a patchwork lineup and no center, most certainly deserves praise. That continued with a team that plays an exciting, never-give-up style of basketball compared to last years team who laid down and died by 15+ like half a dozen times per year, deserves praise. Bringing in a recruiting classthat features our highest rated recruit of this decade and that even has analyst and announcers saying that LSU is on its way, deserves some got damn praise.

Oh and not getting beat (often at home) by such as perenial college basketball powerhouses like Coastal Carolina, South Alabama, North Texas, Nicholls State, Wichita State or barely squeeking by other powerhouses like Houston....deserves praise.

Well the players really didn't like Johnny much when the season started. Most of them were pretty rebellious to his authority. His coaching philosophy is more aggressive than Trent and the players needed time to adjust.

I think a lot of the improvement is them coming around to the system and believing in their coach and each other. Future is bright

Maybe that's why I said:

No one is saying JJ hasn't done well with crap program he got from our last two coaches, but appointing him The Man is premature.

Are you seriously saying that we were "rebuilding" with NBA caliber talent still on the roster?

I remember Hickey saying that LSU was ''going to suprise a few times this year'' at media day.

He's one of the few that truly bought in from the beginning imo. And that's partially because he likes playing uptempo way more than what TJ had us running last year

Hickey is not the whole team. He's been pretty consistent. Some of the other guys really didn't like this coaching staff at all. But I think they are buying in now.
