Trying to decide what we want to do for dinner. What is the best to go places around Essen- Bluebonnet-Highland area?

Sammy's or George's
India's
Arzi's
Serop's (one on Perkins near Pennington has more traditional fare, other one on Perkins near Bluebonnet is an express take-out place with kind of like a Picadilly set-up)

Crawfords, on Staring, and China Taste, at Staring and Highland, have some dishes that are actually pretty good. Serops has a take out place on Perkins right near Bluebonnet. And of course there are the fall backs of Heads and Tails Seafood, George's and Sammy's.

Dempsey's, Pimenyoli's
Dempsey's sold me some delicious very cold gumbo to-go the other day. Dempsey's used to be pretty spot-on with to-go orders, but not anymore.
Pimanyoli's does a decent job with to-go orders. But I think I'm in the minority when I say that their BBQ is overrated.
Jay's BBQ does not make mistakes on to-go orders...I like Jay's, but some of their food items are not very good.
TJ Ribs does a good job with to-go orders and I steal a pocket full of LSU mints with every order.
Jason's Deli also does a bang up job with to-go.

I agree with you on tj ribs. Albasha always gets it right. Ask for extra pita bread they will give it to you for free.

I love to order out from Mexican joints because they still give you the free chips and salsa :)

Yeah, some people don't get the concept of waiting until the customer arrives to scoop the gumbo. I always fill the rice cup and foil-wrap a bread.. but I NEVER scoop the gumbo until the customer arrives.
Too many customers call in and then don't show up for an hour, so you have to take the precautions you can.
Now if they took an hour to get there and they ordered food from the line an hour prior and it's cold, that's on them

Not in your area but my to go of choice is Jasmines on the Bayou.

Is there really a place that has "bad" to-go? Other than Mike Anderson's, there isn't really anywhere I would refuse to get food from. I order out almost every day for one of my meals, and I certainly can't go to the same places every day.

Jasmines. Dam I miss that place

wish there was a Dempsey's close to my place. Great food for what you pay.
