I live outside the city limits but still in a neighborhood. My parents just got a flock and were trying to pawn some of their extra chicks off on me, but I think if I do, I'll get speckled sussex and copper black maran chicks.

I was thinking of getting this coop and keeping around 4 birds

Anyone have any experience or advice?

The wife is trying to talk me into chickens as well. I'm resisting so far.

But for $200, I'm not sure I could buy supplies to copy that design and build it myself any cheaper.

We've had our 5 chickens since October and love it. We usually get 4-5 eggs a day.

The kids can't wait to get home from school to let them out and check for eggs.

Then once it gets dark, they just go back in the hen house.

Here's a link to the thread I started about it.
