Nah their coach just didn't like them. Coaches always leave the best players on the bench

Why is everyone praising this kid?

The coach was not playing him because the other guy was better, right???

Yeah but it stirred up old feelings from the time in high school that their coach held them back so they support him.

I see it a lot in coaching. If you aren't playing, don't bother out working the guy in front of you, the coach just likes him better. It's a weak attitude

Meh. I started as a freshman in hs and a the way through. I was lucky that my position wasn't being used by athletic directors family. Out of 5 spots they took 2 and def had better players on bench.one coach tried to buck system and got fired.

When I.coached I was also lucky that I wasn't friends with parents or no one in school forced me to play someone.

And I found what the kid did as funny.felt strongly enough about it to do it.

And a 3% in hockey is one bad game. They were essentially even

Frankly it doesn't matter if the coach was a dick. We all have to deal with dick coaches and dick bosses. It is an important thing to learn about life. This kid is a fricking quitter.

The other kid was 3% better and had a better GAA. Those are the 2 determining stats for a hockey goalie. Doesn't matter by how much, the other kid was better.

Its really shitty to his team mates. IMO. No matter his feeling towards the coach, he shouldn't have done it just because it costs his team mates the game.

90 versus 87 percent is basically equal. And reddit has people from the school saying the camera guy was suspended

But the stat could change in one game. Did they play.equal games? Being that close isn't a definitive other kid is better because it could change so quickn that's why I said they were essentially even. Did that goal count against him in his stats they showed?

He felt he needed to do it. He knows more than we do.

well there is a difference b/w a good coach who is a dick and an awful/dumb coach who is a dick. By the looks of the records posted of the goal tenders this team/coach was not that good.

Speaking as a coach, if they're equal, I'm going to give plenty of time to the younger guy so I can build for the future. Judging by this kids attitude from his comments in the article I'd probably play the younger guys anyways.

You people are crazy. Y'all are drawing conclusions on who is the better goalie for some obscure high school team that nobody knows of based only off of a few stats found on the internet?

Well if Joe Schmo completes 80% of his passes and throws for 3 td's and 0 interceptions against Grambling, McNeese St, and UTEP I guess that means that he should be LSU's quarterback over High School Harry because he only completed 62% of his passes and threw 4 td's against 3 interceptions against Alabama, UGA, and Florida St. After all, Joe Schmo is 3-0 as a starter and High School Harry is only 2-1.

It's amazing how many on here have the attitude that the kid must be right and the coach must be wrong only because the kid was a senior and the coach played younger players.

Some of the comments under a few different stories I've read (local coverage) suggest that there was something like a mutiny going on among the seniors against the coaches

All that goes both ways though. If the Sr. got to start only because it was sr night, then it sounds like he was probably facing the weaker competition. He would be getting the mop up duty and play with the scrubs when they were up big or down big.

You must have missed the theme of my post. I am not supporting the Senior goalie's actions.

One thing you learn in life is the best player doesn't always play. That's in sports and it happens in life. Life isn't always fair. There are many reasons things happen. Sometimes it's favoritism, sometimes incompetence, and sometimes the coach/boss gets it right. That's just the way life is. You don't always get a fair shake. How you respond to that is up to you.

If I am a coach I make these kids compete for the spot. I don't award the position to any kid. The kids would be in constant competition and whoever is playing best at that time would get the start. I think people get caught up in who the starter is. In my mind you don't just win the job you have to constantly keep it. Competition makes these kids better and on their toes.

Remember the time that Les Miles put in Jarrett Lee to take a knee in the SEC Championship game and he audibled to a pass and he intentionally threw the ball to an UGA linebacker for an easy pick 6.

Well, I guess that didn't happen, but that would have been awesome.

Amirite?

1. I hope this idiot is kicked off the team.

2. The video quality is terrible.

3. Anyone defending this douche either never played team sports or is a teenager.

I am glad the seniors on my son's HS baseball team handled being pushed to the bench last year by 5 freshman starters. The seniors were honored, but they could also see that these freshman were better players. One of the freshman pitchers pitched a one hitter in the first roun of the playoffs. The seniors were the first to him after the game was over.
