Take note of them now before ESPN messes things up completely.

Notables

2. Fournette
3. Robinson
8. Brown
12. Jones
15. Paris
20. Jackson
30. Willis
38. Daub (Is he worth mentioning even at this point?)
45. Dupre
76. Bauer
77. Brumfield
81. Clark
95. Noil
99. Quinn
119. Voorhies
147. Washington
154. Simmons
190. Clapp
213. Young
214. Sims
218. Godchaux
265. Hardeman
283. McDowell

Seems pretty reasonable, although I know most of you will disagree with Clapp's ranking.

Daub is worth mentioning.
A wild card, but worth mentioning...

Thats 23 kids.

I guess I'd take 2 under the provisional limit if we could take these guys...

Scout has Voorhies even lower at 183.

The good news is all the other sites will have about 3 updates before ESPN puts out their first "rankings."

hardemann way too low. no chance LSU would accept the commit of a 265 ranked guy the summer before his sr. year.

I've never heard anyone rate him particularly highly. This is generally why a lot of people are speculating that he won't stick. It's not because he doesn't want to. He's got some good offers but he's 2nd tier this year and I don't think schools like LSU or A&M are going to need to take any 2nd tier kids in the end given local options.

Then again, I don't know how many DBs LSU plans to sign (we only plan on 4 and we already have 3 of them). This is the kind of kid that ends up at TCU imo. Talented but a little undersized.

We always find guys we like before bigger schools are on them, especially DB's, it's becoming an every year thing

Hardeman is absolutely a take at this point. He's not an elite tall cover guy, but he's built very closely to Mathieu and could wreak havoc in the slot as a nickel or dime guy, which every team needs these days with spread teams. Hardeman also is recruiting heavily for LSU, some TOP tier guys like the top guys in TX and OOS guys like Adoree Jackson. A big recruiter like that is always a big asset, he's a take just based on that but the fact he's a good football player is just icing on the cake. Our nickel cover guy last year Jalen Collins was mediocre and replaceable to say the least...looks like he may have to play another year there though. Hopefully he makes big strides.

TCU has elite defenses usually, I dont think thats a knock at all. Patterson knows defense as good as anyone. And like said above, we always find DBs no one else wants. Jalen Mills started a true freshman at CB this last year, TX schools didn't bother with him. Morris Claiborne another great example. Tyrann Mathieu...

We play to take a ton of DBs. We are thin at safety and should take at least 2 there, probably 3. CB another 2, possibly 3. Looking like 5 DBs minimum and most likely 6. We stand to hit some big time guys between Paris, Brown, Voorhies (committed), Jackson, Simmons, Jones, etc...

I'd put 20 bucks that ESPN will have Sony Michel rated ahead of Fournette. Also, Cameron Sims will be rated ahead of Noil and Quinn.

If we get HALF of these prospects we're gonna have a top3 recruiting class. I dont use this term lightly at ALL but i seriously smell a dynasty. AND LSU's first heisman winner in Leonard neverFourgette.

LSU will be no.1 in nation in recruiting. its clear that there is a top of talent in la. in 2014. rivals put 5 la.guys in top 100 and then played politics and put 3 la. guys in next 10 to keep them out of top 100. 8 guys in top 110.

Good because I didn't mean it as a knock at all. Hardeman is a fine player and the exact kind of player Patterson has made a living on. But he's limited in that he really is more of a nickel back than anything. And there are some elite corners in this class (that you are in very good shape with).
