Davis is on a clear minutes limit. Why? I don't know. I assume it is part of the foot thing. We'll see.

With his body, he wouldn't make it through the rest of the season playing 35 minutes per game. He's on the ground 2-3 times a game as it is. I think they saw early on that he was taking a pounding and decided it really wasn't worth giving him Lillard type minutes.

I don't have a problem with his minutes. Its killed his numbers and therefore his ROY chances, but i think its for the best.

Davis needs to spend all summer lifting weights. Then he can play 35 minutes a game.

I wonder if it has anything to do with him still possibly growing height-wise? I honestly don't know, but it seems like that could be a legit concern.

this.

his fan club on this board by SOME (who are extraordinarily ignorant to the game of basketball) will make excuses for him with anything and it is truly amazing. he could rob a bank and they would defend him.

Davis is on minute limits due to his foot and the length on the NBA season. You put those together and it's clear he wants him to learn by experience and seeing what other do from the bench. This was probably a decision not only made by Williams, but Dell too. There is a reason why both of those guys are in the NBA

While I bow to the superior knowledge and insight of esteemed posters such as weebie and DarrylJames, I tend to agree with jojothetireguy above. I believe there is a reason for limiting Davis' minutes and even for some of the curious rotations we see. This team is not a contender this year. It's not in tank mode, either. But it is a year where you protect and develop your franchise rookie player in the smartest way possible. You also look at different lineups with these young guys and see how they perform in different game situations.

Monty certainly has made mistakes and will make more. Just like every single third year coach that's come before him. All in all, he and Dell have handled a tough hand over the last couple of years pretty well and have shown real potential.

I really think this is the case. By the way, Davis is averaging 28 minutes a game. Guess who else averaged that much during his rookie season. Kevin Garnett.

ETA: Oh and the very next season, KG's MPG jumped from 28.9 to 38.7. I expect to see a similar jump for Davis.
