This appeared in today's paper. I hope this thread doesn't regress to a discussion about Guilbeau. I truly want to be educated on the prospects of the 2013 defense.

"The (LSU) defense will be one of the best int he SEC in 2013 despite major personnel losses." - Glenn Guilbeau.

Do we really know how well the players (who we have barely seen or haven't seen at all) will do, much less know them well enough to declare our def. unit "among the best in the SEC?" Guilbeau

it is going to be a good defense. and i firmly believe that with a change in the offensive coaching staff the offense will be better, which, statistically, will make our defense look better.

for all the "stars" on the defense who left early, we didn't have a dominating defense last year. it was very good, but even mingo and montgomery weren't dominating. we missed the "big plays" that we got the year before.

If those guys had stayed, they would dominate this year, but nonetheless, we can look for a quality team. IMHO.

frick Gilbeau.

It is not like it is going out on a big limb saying LSU's D will be one of the best in 2013.

They'll be good, they're always good. The good thing about playing all those freshmen last year is that this year they'll be ready to play at a high level.

It won't be a top-tier defense this year imo, but they'll be fine.

We lost a lot, but a lot of young guys got a lot of playing time.

Last week someone posted our depth chart for both offense and defense and there were a lot of familiar names as starters.

Defense will be fine.

Miles will let Cameron run the show on offense more than any previous coordinator who has ever worked under Miles.
