At this point, I wouldn't say Lane is "overrated". He is just a bad coach.

Except he's won a frick ton more. So this statement is dumb. He's won 2 NC, and been to 4 Final Fours with UNC. I don't get the hate.

Has he really? Mack Brown has on MNC, and lost another BCSCG. His teams have made several BCS bowls which is about the equivalent of making the Final Four. He requires superior talent to be competitive. He coaches at the school with the most resources in his sport. He is overshadowed by a conference rival as a coach.

This thread is fricking stupid. Clearly those who agree with the OP simply don't like Williams, and will try and discredit him no matter what. I'd like to see a list of coaches who are constant overachievers with Williams' resume.

Bras Stevens at Butler can coach circles around Roy. And most other coaches for that matter. He has average talent and Butler regularly handles teams with superior athleticism on a weekly basis

I almost started this thread earlier. But I feel like I would've got some slack for being a Duke fan. I've said the same thing. I think he's very overrated. He doesn't develop talent well at all. It's gotta be a perfect situation for him (4 or 5 lottery picks) for him to succeed. I've always said this.

He's overrated as a coach I agree, but he gets talent....And I hate his timeout strategy...he only used 1 timeout in a blowout game

Coach K will do this at times as well. It's more of a teaching thing. I hate it too. it's more of a get yourself out of this mess yourselves

How is this different from Calipari? But everyone loves him since he's at UK

I think Coach Cal is a POS personally. As do most on this board. I feel like if you don't get the best out of what you have (whether it's the best or the worst players), then you aren't a good coach. Good coaches adapt to what they have to work with.

They have no one who can score. They have a team full of role players and freshman. This is the same deal before they got the last crop of lottery picks. The thing is no one is calling Cal over rated. They call him a pos, but not over rated. And IMO the team cal had last year was better than both of Williams' two nc teams at Carolina. But Williams is over rated.

I want to point out that I did reply earlier in this thread and I left all of your info out, but I do feel the same way. lol My earlier post, was just pointing out my opinion on why UNC has been down the past few years.
