Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has hit out at the Premier League for forcing his team to play Everton this Sunday as opposed to Saturday, giving them a day's fewer rest before their Champions League clash with Real Madrid next Wednesday than José Mourinho's side. "It's ridiculous to think that we play on the Sunday and Real Madrid play on the Saturday with that extra day's rest," said Ferguson in a press conference on Friday. "Other countries in Europe make sacrifices for their top teams in Europe. We're not giving our teams a chance to be successful in Europe. There's no fairness at all." United's match with Everton will be broadcast on Sky Television and will kick off at 17:00 CET on Sunday, while Madrid host Sevilla on Saturday at 22:00. He added: "What can you do? Not turn up? I've complained about it. Do you think they listened and the when asked if he would consider boycotting the match in protest, joked: "I'd love to do that." Ferguson, whose team are currently nine points clear at the top of the Premier League, admitted he would rest a number of players for the game against David Moyes's side so his first choice side will be fresh for the trip to Madrid. "The team on Sunday will not be the team that plays on Wednesday," he said. "It wouldn't matter what our position in the league was it would be about commonsense and using our squad. "I trust the squad of players I've got, they're all internationals, they're all good players and there's not one reason why I can't play them all in different team selections."

This is kinda funny. "One Whole day" can make a difference in a season where you are still playing in multiple tournaments and the league.

Probably. Oh, there is that whole 60 year rivalry, Manchester ship canal, competing manufacturing centers since the start of the industrial revolution.
But I'm sure no one pays any attention to any of that.

All of which are completely relevant to you and I.

All of which are completely relevant to someone who's family is from the area, and still lives there.
Maybe not you, but for me, yes.

I do for the most part. Works really well too since the other half of that side of my family is from Dublin. So I can grab an Aer Lingus flight for like 25 quid to go back and forth across the Irish Sea.
