I think this will be a home run hire but people need to remember we were a first down away from being in the SECCG this year.

All we need to be is a couple first downs better but we are gonna go above and beyond that

I highly doubt an OC with the experience of CC would take a job where he doesn't have complete control of the offense. Doesn't really make any sense for him to move from NFL to college to be a puppet.

Exactly, and they say a reason BAL let him go was because he wouldn't take into consideration input from other people on the staff for the offense. While that may be considered a negative there, it will be a HUGE positive at LSU IMO because a) no one can say they have more experience coaching offense at a higher level than he does, and b) all the other coaches have shat the bed coaching offense thus far. So if Lester wants to stick his hand on it, CC can just tell him to f*** off.

Making a hire like this kind of tells me Les submitted to the fact that they need serious help. If he didn't want serious improvement he would have just kept stud.

Last year's defense just wasn't elite. They were good at times and mediocre late season. But over the 4 or 5 yrs Chavis has been here, his defenses have been the saving grace for the team.

It's Leslie, and CC probably does have the balls to tell him to f... off when he should. They're old friends. We'll see.

I think Les finally has an OC with a name big enough to trust the offense completely with him. I think this hire will be as big as the Chavis one was.

I'd agree with this.....but think how good Chavis would have been during his LSU tenure if we had an offense that could keep the other offense off the field? I mean, to do what he has done considering that is amazing.

If our offense had a pulse the defense wouldn't have to carry the team every game. They can't do it all and eventually you get tired when you're on the field all game..

A lot of late last seasons struggles had to do with how tired they were. We had a couple injuries at LB that removed the starters and then you have to take in account of the minor dinks and twinges that every player plays through but still slows them down half a step. I'd say our defense was most definitely elite considering just how long of a season they had. They had to have played at least twice the downs that LSU's offense did.

That takes a major toll on a man throughout a full season. No one can say that last years defense didnt leave everything they had on the field. They played, with guts and balls, for glory. You can't ask for more.

The d played great last year. Less energetic team after bama game but who can blame them. They all thought they'd be playing for the NC

Also tired and injuries.

LSU stackedddd

You know the rest

Don't get me wrong, they would have been elite on any other team that had an offense with a pulse. LSU elite on defense implies superman play I make up for basically no offense.
