Then you are stupid because it is a inside zone power like any other run that LSU or Bama runs just with a toss action.

That removes all chance of there being a play action pass off of it.

Cam's bringing the tossdivefleaflickershortsideoptionfakepuntfieldgoal to the playbook.

And before the end of Cam's 1st year as OC, RS#10 will throw a pass. BOOK IT!

We will be a run first heavy team still but the difference will be we will keep doing what works until the other team stops it.

It seems to me that when things do work Les tends to get away from them......I think Cam fixes that

It is a great play. I know everyone on here hates it, but it works. Maybe we will see it run to the outside more. It was effective originally because it was misdirection.

It also gives the back more time to read his blocks and see his cut backs due to the zone blocking scheme.

the toss dive has been damn successful at LSU. yes, we became predictable as of late and teams defended it successfully but if and when we establish and offense that keeps the defense guessing the toss dive will work again.

I want to know what our average is on that play. I'll bet it's the lowest average of all our run plays. Seems like it always hits for a 2-3 yard gain max...

The toss dive gets way more hate than it deserves. It's a good play that gives the ball carrier more time to make a decision and act on that decision. It has also been a pretty damn effective play for us.

We just need to get more versatile with it

I don't understand what advantages it has over a regular handoff. The running back has to first focus on the ball to catch it THEN read the holes.
On a regular handoff, the RB has his eyes upfield the entire time.

The reason the Toss Dive gets so much hate is it's a very notable and unique play in the Les Miles offense, thus it serves as the focal point for hating on whatever pathetic system we've been running for the past few years.

The actual merits of the play are immaterial.

The back receives the ball at least a yard or two behind where he does on a handoff. That equals more time to read the play with the ball in his hands.

Not so. LSU coaches it so the QB's hands stay low. LBs and DBs usually can't see the pitch.

Should EVERY run play have a play action pass off of it?
