Just heard on radio that he's resigned as the softball coach w/ the season starting this weekend.

Thats a pretty big blow if true, i know its just softball but really hate to see that program drop off.

I was thinking this might be the year "UL" makes a serious run at a top 25 Pentathlam ranking. This should hurt that. Sadly, it's been six years since "Louisiana" made the list.

I'm hearing from a pretty solid source that Cajun AD Scott Farmer asked Coach Lotief if he even lifted. We should have more news later tonight.

I know it's off-topic for this thread, but I've often wondered why cajun fans won't acknowledge the Pentathlam; at least in front of outsiders.

No. Chances are that the relationship between the Cajun AD and Lotief got sour. Between football taking the driver's seat, development of the master plan, the 100k raise given to a struggling basketball coach, and the lack of resources available to our softball program - something set both parties off. Had to be bad enough for a stand-up guy to quit the day before a tournament.
