Jindal should put forward school vouchers for ALL kids-- (Posted on 2/8/13 at 11:22 am)
That way a lot of the inefficiencies we now have at the state level and the school board level will disappear and all the money will be the classroom. How anyone besides a union organizer could not support this idea is beyond me. It would mean more choice, more schools, better educations, new ideas, higher teacher pay ect.
If you haven't watched John Stossel's "Stupid in America" you should and ask all your neighbors to watch it. LINK

Step one: get vouchers for kids in shitty schools (you'd have to hate kids to force them to go to bad schools) Step two: show how much better those kids did with vouchers Step three: say every kid has the right to go to the better schools Step four: give vouchers to every student Step five: ??? Step six: profit!

I like the vouchers for everyone idea, but don't you think it would drive the price of tuition up tremendously? Sort of like setting up standards that allow just about anyone to get a loan for and attend college?

Not if there were few restrictions on the number of schools that get them and if it is the state that sets the voucher amount. In the case of loans and Pell grants that you rightfully point out drive the cost of tuition up they are not necessarily limited. A kid can go into a bunch of debt for example.
I think initially tuition at private schools would go up and the State would need to stand out of the way as more private schools opened creating cost lowering competition. They should also make it easy for a public school or an entire public system to go private.
