What can I expect to pay for a good HELOC rate?

Credit score above 760. Generally strong financial position. Prime plus 1.5?

That's probably about right. I got mine two years ago with top credit, and the rate is prime plus 1.875% through Wells Fargo.
Unless a family has a tendency to run up debt against any available credit, I can't think of a reason not to have one.
