| 13 DePaul students admit to vandalizing pro-life display (Posted on 2/7/13 at 11:55 pm)
Brings back memories of me standing watch through the night during my time as head of LSU Students for Life
quote:
DePaul University has completed its investigation after an apparent act of vandalism destroyed a pro-life flag display on the school’s main campus. As The Daily Caller reported, the display was part of the Flags for Life Project initiated by DePaul’s chapter of Young Americans for Freedom. After reserving space on the campus quad in Lincoln Park, club members set up 500 colored flags — half blue, half pink — to symbolize the lives they believe are lost each day as a result of legalized abortion. When club members later returned to the quad to remove their display, they found it wrecked. Someone had removed the flags and stuffed them into several trash bins near the entrance to the library on the east side of the quad. ... “It is a sad thing to see that liberal-minded students aren’t tolerant and don’t respect the views of those who respect the lives of the unborn,” Del Campo said at the time. About a week later, Kevin Connolly, an investigator for DePaul’s public safety department, produced a brief report, which YAF has published on its website. By all appearances, Del Campo was right. Connolly’s report lists the names of the 13 students he said admitted to wrecking the display.

Except LSU is not a Catholic University.

I would be willing to bet that a majority of this board agree with this statement.

I'd say most Muslim-American values are very similar to traditional american values if we're talking morality alone.

I am 100% in favor of a woman's right to choose. That said the pro-life people have an absolute right to express their opinions. In fact, at a Catholic University, they would seem to be in the majority. Any violence in the name of political opinion is wrong. Each side needs to let the other voice their ideas. It's the American way. I hope it's the TD way also.

Are you 100% sure about that? Do you think a woman should have the right to choose to terminate the child 5 minutes after birth? How about 5 minutes before while in labor? There is obviously some point in time where it is reasonable to say your choices have been made. Those who are pro-life believe the choice was made when the woman decided to have sex and risk pregnancy. After that a woman's choices are limited to keeping the baby or giving it up for adoption.

I know this question gets asked a lot but I will ask again.....Why are conservatives always asked to be tolerant and accepting of others even though it goes against their core beliefs, yet most liberals refuse to do the same?

Once the baby is born, it's a baby. Abortion of a fetus is 100% OK and legal. However, when when it's too late for an abortion (Late Term I guess) I have no idea or thoughts. But I will always stand behind a womans right to choose.

Fathers rights are much less than the mothers. After all we all know the burden falls on the mother to raise the kid etc. But, yeah the fathers rights need to factor in. My only point is that abortion is legal and shouldn't be banned. Yes everyone, including everyone here has the right to their opinion. But I acknowledge it stirs peoples emotions.

I'm not strongly opposed to abortion (I view it as negative but unavoidable and socially necessary in some cases) but your statement is curious. It points out the reason for abortion is convenience and not life health of mother. There is no reason society could not make both mothers and fathers responsible for their children. And you conveniently let your generalization destroy the rights of responsible fathers, those that would care for and want their child.

How can they be factored in when the rights of the mother are paramount. There is no such calculation. You seem to write things without much thought as to the

Not just the woman. I amazes me how people can knowingly risk conception of a child and then when they find out it truly exists they can just throw it away like a piece of trash.... ....at least give the little guy/gal a chance and put him/her up for adoption.

The ONLY right the father has......financial obligation for the born child. If the father wants the baby and the mother says no....he has no recourse. If he wants the abortion and the mother says no....he has no recourse.
