ETA: I know a damn pistol shoots 22lr. The casty is because I've never been asked before.

Yes they have to ask that for some reason.. I think it has something to do with selling handgun ammo to someone under the age of 21.
FWIW I only shoot my 22LR out of handguns.

If you or anyone in your party is under 21, it is illegal to sell you handgun ammo.
But, it is legal to own a handgun at 18 yrs old in Louisiana.

It's actually legal to possess a handgun, open carry a handgun, or have a handgun in your car at 17.
