Write up from earlier selection.
Dane Crane, Center Washington

In an one on one video he has, it shows him with just shirt and shorts on, and it looks like he has a lot of bad weight on him. That almost scared me off of him completely. So I decided to watch some film of his. Damn. Either he is holding on every play, or he is just toying with some of the Dline guys he is playing against. Its not until 3:10 in until his defender DOESN'T end up on the ground! He plays mean.

But Washington returns 4 of 5 OLmen next year. The one who doesn't, the center, Drew Schaefer. Now, I'm not saying he will start next year, but he has the size and strength to do so. It doesn't hurt when your coach says that you could be an

Austin Hooper, OLB/DE, Stanford

This is a pure upside pick. He's a tiny bit small, but he has great speed. Like my last OLB/DE pick, I honestly just don't know where the coaches are going to put him. However, I'm going to put Hooper at DE and Sickels at OLB. I've decided to go to a 3-4 this year, so I need a few more versatile players who can play both positions. Scout has him listed as a tight end, and if he ends up there, he'll be a nightmare if he has the ability to catch. I don't think he does, however, and Scout is the only site listing him there. With the elite S&C over at Stanford, I think this guy has a great chance to do something really good in a couple years.

I want Ryne Rankin. ILB Georgia. This guy is nuts, and he practiced with the team before the bowl game. Earliest enrollee of them all, and he will have every chance to make a huge impact this year as a freshman.

I knew I should've picked him this morning
I just didn't want to go with 3 Washington guys in a row

I loved his film and loved the fact that he didn't care about a "piddly all star game" and would rather practice with his new team. Awesome. I didn't like the fact that Georgia brought in 3, maybe 4, ILBs this year. A lot of competition, even though he got in the earliest. I think Kimbrough wins that job.

You were the one I was sweating out the most. I knew once it got past you, I should have been ok.

He's probably the most sure thing in the Washington recruiting class. I've heard the coaches plan on playing him as a true Freshman.

Eh, it's a 3-4 D, they will both get on the field this year. Rankin will probably be one of the more entertaining prospects from this class. He supposedly got in a fight in his first practice

I was hoping to get your take on him. I felt the same way, but I figured you would probably know more being right there.

I swear you were the only guy I thought about when selecting him.

Sorry man.

Shaw in his Signing day press conference said he would be a TE. LINK With Stanford losing both TEs to the draft good chance he'll play as a freshman

That he did. Jarvis Jones and Baccari Rambo told him to not take anything from anyone. So he goes ahead and gets into a fight though he has not even started classes yet.

It's cool
I like it when people in here pick the Washington guys. Gives them an excuse to follow the team a bit. I still think there's a few Washington guys left that are worthy of a pick.

I've been following Washington since the first draft we did. I took Erik Kohler.

Sucks that he had such a bad injury this year, against LSU no less. How is he doing with the rehab? will he retain his starting job and get a medical redshirt?

About halfway through the year last year, Sark changed the injury reporting policy to be completely silent basically. I've heard it wasn't that bad and he's set to start at one of the OG spots and I've heard he's going to retire due to medical reasons. Nobody knows, but I expect it will become more clear in a few weeks when spring ball starts back up.

Wow. If you hear something let me know. I really hope this kid can get back on the field. He seemed to be a pretty good player, wasn't he?

I would imagine Hooper is going to be first in line to get PT among the freshman TE because he's the most accomplished blocker coming from DLS famous veer offense

Yeah, I'll try to let you know. I tend to lean on the side of him coming back strong. We really need linemen, so they'll do everything possible to get him back. I think his injury was basically that his kneecap just kept on dislocating. He was not that good out at tackle, but he was pretty good as a guard.
