Anyone own one? Shot one? Held one? Need some input.

I've seen them before but was interested in the more popular S&W 15-22. Have someone who's considering trading me for my XD9.

Thanks in advance.

Havne't shot the 522.

But I did recently pick up a 15-22, and I can't make it fail to feed, fire or eject, no matter what type of ammo I run through it.

Don't tell DeaconJones I said this, but I'd take a 522 or 15-22 over an "XD-anything".

The 522 is an excellent gun. I bought the 15-22 because it was slightly cheaper, and has a collapsable stock. I'm using it to teach my kids to shoot a scoped rifle before moving them up to larger calibers.

The Sig 522 is a GREAT "tactical" .22. It might be the most reliable of the .22 rifles that mimic their 5.56 big brothers. That being said, I would still rather the M&P 15-22 (also very reliable-great gun)...because it has the same controls as my ARs and will be a better training asset for me.

Thanks for the input fellas.

I've seen many, MANY price variations on the 522. Cheapest MSRP on Sig's website says $479 for the "Classic" model (which is the one this guy is considering trading me).

Anyone know what these go for on the resale market? The owner says it's never been fired and comes with four 25 round mags and two 50 round drum mags.

I haven't searched for accessories, but the way things are going with the 15-22, the mags might be worth as much as the rifle.

I have one, very fun to shoot. I should have bought some additional mags when I had the chance.

If you're buying one new it probably has the updated bolt system. If it doesn't, a simple call to their customer service line will get one in the mail to you wothin minutes.

I have about 1500 rounds through it. I only had problems when the defective E clip failed. The spring broke and it wouldn't cycle properly. A friend was shooting it at the time and manually cycled and fired another 10 shots. Other than that, no cycle problems, even with subsonic rounds.

Very easy to disassemble and clean. I'm very happy with it.

ETA Ill buy two of your 25 round mags (and maybe a drum).

I did some research on it yesterday. I saw a post on SigArms.com about the bolt system problem with the clips. The guy tells me it's never been shot so I'm guessing it's fairly new and should have the redesigned bolt. In a picture he texted me it still has the paper wrap around the grip. From all I'm reading it seems to be a very well-liked gun and very reliable. Only thing I don't care for is the "Swiss Style" fore-grip. You can buy bolt on rail pieces that attach to both sides and the bottom of the fore-grip but they're very short and I don't think I can get a vertical grip and a bipod to fit on the lower one that Sig makes. There are some aftermarket quad-rail replacements but the cheapest I could find was $170.00

If he decides he wants to trade, I'm pretty sure I'm going to take him up on his offer.

Wafer, I'll let you know about the mags. If I get it, I'll consider selling 1 of the 50's and possibly 2 (more than likely 1) of the 25's.

Here's the picture. It's the one all the way to the right in the front (Dude has quite a stash, huh?)

Thanks. Have had a few inquiries. Had the one dude a couple weeks back that was low balling me AND wanted me to drive all the way to Lafayette to do the deal. frick that! The guy that I'm in talks with for the trade hasn't once mentioned cash price so I think he's solely committed to a trade and he's got what I want. Just waiting to see if he wants to pull the trigger. (pun intended)

I think this guy got ahold of me thru my LASportsman ad. I didn't put my phone number in the BS ad and he texted me to inquire about it.

I'm fairly new to BS. I was able to find a gun I was looking for thru the email though.

Loving it. Put around 750 rounds through it so far with only one hangup.

Shooting at .06 a round is so much less stressful than 40-60 cents a rd

I heard that!

Just got a call from the guy with the perspective trade. Seems to be crawfishing now...

Says his 4 wheeler is in the shop for something he was told was under warranty and now they're saying it's not and blah, blah, blah...

Asked him about the trade and now he's telling me all the extra mags aren't even in yet and that I'd have to pay extra for them on top of the even trade for the guns. We'll see what happens.
