So please help me understand where any coach has walked into LSU and done better than Miles. Reality is they didn't

This is a two sided coin. Saban came in and won a title in year 4 and BUILT LSU to what is is Miles has just kept it going. There is NO way IMO that Miles could have come in and done what Saban did with the program the way Dinardo left it.

apparently your memory is getting worse in your old age Peej. Look at the roster Saban had his first couple of years. Saban had about 26 or so players go pro while at LSU....about 3/4s of them were Dinardo recruits. The whole "bare cupboard" myth is just that....a myth.

If Dinardo had hired a great DC instead of Lou f'n Tepper i have no doubt that he would've won an NC with those players. Miles stepped in to much worse at OK State and turned it around there

Saban is a program builder. Miles is NOT.

Actually DiNardo left the program in pretty damn good shape. He turned in-state recruiting around. He left Saban a base line of talent.

It's interesting that you pro-Saban lovers seem to have no recall of actual events. I guess if you are pro Bama, no matter where you live, you feel that changing history to suit yourself is a required. I see enough of that where I live. Saban is good, but he didn't invent football.

Miles built up Okie State. that program was much worse than LSU when Saban got here

I like Miles. A hell of a coach who does have some questionable calls at times but also gambles just enough. A great Recruiter. I am glad he got the money and I am glad he is LSU'S coach. However What Saban did here was unreal with what he BUILT program wise. What Saban is doing at Bama is remarkable. Had Saban stayed at LSU for another 5 years??? LSU is assured of at least two more titles.

umm mack just got extended to 2020 at 5.2 million.
Wow! And rantards are concerned about Miles being overpaid.
I guess it's understandable since Mack has such a superior W/L record.

?????

MIles best year at Okie was 5-3 conf./ 9-4 overall. the first year after he left they were 1-7 conf.
not quite the talent MIles got from Saban as Gundy got from Miles. Looks like Gundy built it himself.

That's a hypo that can only be estimated by his win% while at LSU........which isn't as good as the win% of Miles.
Saban's Miami experience may have seasoned the way he approached CFB.
Maybe Nick doesn't gamble on 4th so many times vs UF '07, or maybe he doesn't have to, or maybe it's too far out of reach to even try.
Way too many variables to "assure" LSU of 2 more titles, or even attempts at titles(BCS).

You give no credit to the job DiNardo did? I know he left a bad taste in the mouths of some of you but be fair. He slowed the stream of Louisiana talent from leaving the state. He capitalized on it. He did not leave your hero with an empty cupboard.
Saban to his credit was quick to expand on the foundation that DiNardo laid.

No question that he is a remarkable coach. Another 5 years? Come on man. No way in Hell was Saban going to stay at LSU another 5 years. From the day he arrived in Baton Rouge, he had his bags backed for the NFL. Baton Rouge was a stepping stone and he made no bones about it.

It is really frustrating that whenever anything regarding Les Miles is mentioned, you Saban lovers have to chime in with your tired old revisionist history and your childish "what if" scenarios.

Each of them has a valid body of work that stands alone. Miles is the engineer that runs a very profitable enterprise. He is worth the pay.

You may feel free to fire a crimson tinted rebuttal.

Miles should be highest paid coach in CFB. Stud should be highest paid assistant as well. Record breaking offensive minds should be compensated for.

GD can't be given any credit by some cause to do so undercuts their "NS built LSU from the ashes" BS.

The 5 yrs before GD LSU was 25-41.

GD was 32-24-1.

There is no doubt NS elevated the LSU program to where LM has maintained it and there is no doubt GD left the LSU program in much better shape talent wise than where it was in 94 when he took over.

$100,000 for appearing in a bowl should not be included.

This is paying good money for a really low bar. It should be assumed that LSU is bowl eligible EVERY YEAR and if not Lester should not only NOT get a bonus, he should be fired.

Does anyone really believe Miles or any LSU coach should get a $100K bonus for landing the Tigers in the Indy Bowl?

Probably not, but that is a standard incentive included in most SEC coaches' contract. Bama paid little nicky a bonus for their Indy bowl appearance.

And 5-3 in the last 8 yrs.

85-21 in the last 8 yrs and 34-6 in our last 3 yrs.

49-19 in the SEC since 05 and 21-5 since 2010.

Stop crying like a 2 yr old over this L or that L and enjoy the best period of LSU football there has ever been.
