Just came across this on a different forum. Makes for an interesting read. Surprisingly articulate and accurate, especially for a newspaper article. :-)
Short version: Metal hardened bullets designed to penetrate Kevlar reinforced protective vests have been banned since 1986. Is Obama going redefine "cop killer bullets" to now include common rifle hunting bullets, then sway public opinion to support a ban on his newly defined "cop killer bullets"? Crazier things than this have happened on the political scene lately.....

This is just more of the old tactic of inventing terms that mean nothing or don't exist to get people fired up.

The sad part is, they keep doing it because it works.

Hollow points inflict "maximum damage" and I'm pretty sure I heard them specifically addressing hollow points shortly after the Sandy Hook incident. They would prefer we only have FMJs to increase the chance of a round penetrating a wall and killing an innocent kid, furthering their anti-gun crusade interests.

Cheap, bimetal bullets (like in Wolf ammo) are surprisingly good at defeating armor. Wouldn't be hard to portray them as "evil."

Same for the good hunting ammo. Call it "tactical sniping ammo" and ban the motherfrick out of it.

No, he'll probably declare them to be baby killer bullets, which the media will immediately parrot thousands of times daily.

Why use outdated hyperbole when the press is on hold waiting for your newest bullshite exaggeration.

If JHP, the newer polymer tipped and most "modern rounds" get banned leaving us with basically FMJ only, would that change peoples view on what caliber to carry? Combine that with a possible roll back to 10rd, would that send many back to .40s and .45s?

This could be spot on.

I'd actually picked up a couple of boxes for my .270
