Gun battles! In the streets of Amurica!

I will also play devils advocate here,
If you are not 100% sold on the 1911 design, look at some S&W M&Ps, SA XD series, Glocks, Kahr, Sig, and H&K.
With a $1000 budget you can get just about any pistol you want. The 1911s are iconic but far from the best.

The perfect pistol should hold more than 7 bullets.
8 rounds of .45 has more knockdown power than 15 rounds of 9mm.

But I do own a 1911 and like them and intend to buy more in the future.
Wilson Combat 8 round mags are expensive but very reliable. Not that its a huge improvement but its 1 more round than you had before.

I'd definitely like to spend around the $500 range. I'll look into those as well. I only brought up Glock because it seems to be popular and I have shot one a few times and liked it.

Glock, Smith & Wesson M&P series, Springfield Armory XD series, Kahr are in that price range.
A $500 1911 will not come close to what you can get from the guns above. But there are some that will get the job done, nonetheless.

Lol. I remember that Youtube video too, but why do 1911 fanatics discount that point as invalid? What about lady in Georgia that put 6 bullets into that guy and he drove off. What if it was 3 guys. And I understand that .45 offers better performance than 9mm, but would you honestly rather be shot 3 times with 9mm than once with .45? And there are .45 handguns that offer twice the magazine capacity of the 1911.
As much as you fellas hate to admit it, there are absolutely, without question, scenarios where it's better to have more than 7-8 rounds.

One day you gun freaks can't buy enough magazines. The next day, you freaks want the gun to hold 427 rounds. Is this place free?

Well with that logic, she had enough for the others, since it takes less bullets with the .45

I love 1911s, brah! But there are lots of good options out there.

Ruger or magnum research are good in the $700 range.

So there is absolutely no advantage to one firearm having double or triple the capacity of another? Even if they shoot the same caliber? Got ya!

I love em too. My next pistol will be a Sig or a Kahr though.

I have a P226 that has been amazing. I probably have around 8000 rounds through her and not one hiccup.
Posted on 1/29/13 at 3:40 pm to Yat27
P226 or M&P 9 will be next handgun.
