Lowry's on-ball perimeter defense and his ability to get to the free throw line would do a lot for the Hornets/Pelicans, IMO.

Exactly. Just imagine the defensive potential of that line up. If we could actually acquire Chandler for a 2nd I would see if Toronto would take our 1st for Lowry and we keep Greivis and Lopez

I don't think it's going to be as easy to acquire Chandler as some do. I think two second round picks, maybe even a lottery pick is going to be the asking price.

In a down year for the draft, trading away a pick in the 8-12 range for a proven, young veteran NBA player is well worth it.

I would do it for 2 2nds. I just would want to keep 1st to try to trade to Toronto for Lowry instead of giving up both Lopez and Greivis

I'm not big on hypothetical trade ideas - mostly because they are never going to happen - but:

Lakers receive: Bargnani, Kleiza, Jason Smith
Raptors receive: Gasol, Vasquez
Hornets receive: Lowry.

I agree that its not a blistering draft year, but the 10-12 range is where the cost effective talent is going to be. Not sure I'd trade that for an average vet. Lowry, yes.

If Barnes would have been taken before the number-7 pick in last years draft, the Warriors would have traded that pick to Denver for Chandler.

His trade value is probably in that 9-13 range.

That's just what it cost to acquire a proven, young NBA player.
