I think I am going to go talk to Golfballs.com and Golf Connection and see what they think. I am not even sure if either will do clubs they don't sell, so I might be forced to get new clubs unless i do it myself.

try to find a local guy who does them (at a golf course or small golf shop)...they are always done better and almost always faster!

I think it depends on how much he needs them extended due to swingweight. 0.5" will probably add 2-3 points, which may be manageable, but a full inch would be more like 5 or 6. Not many people can play well with a club at D8.

Since your clubs are 10 years old, I'd wager to bet that they aren't worth the extra $100 plus dollars to have them extended. I would look for a set of used custom clubs on ebay that are the right length with a normal swingweight and buy those. Changing the lie angle and loft a couple of degrees is pretty cheap and easy so I wouldn't worry about that so much

I never really understood all that, I suppose the guys at the golf shops determine the need for that?

pretty much. In general, tall golfers will need more upright lies. Hitting clubs on a lie board at a golf shop or clubmaker is how to check

Dude. He isn't scratch. Swing weight is the last thing he should be worried about. Lol.

My irons are 1/2 inch extension. Not a big deal doing that. But it will screw up with your lie and loft

It's up to you whether you want new clubs are not
