Snakes in my yard

I was raking my yard the other day and raked up about 5 gray snakes. They are small, ranging from about 8 inches to a foot long and about as big around as a pencil. They immediately burrow in the ground. I just moved to Jackson, MS. Wtf are these?

I was gonna say it's a death adder but this one seems a bit more accurate...
