I am thinking of purchasing a new scope for my BLR 7mm-08.I have a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9 on it now.I will put that scope on my sons gun.
I am torn between the Zeiss Conquest 3.5x10x44mm and the Leupold VX3 4.5x14x40.... I know they are both top notch scopes. Is it pretty much even as far as brighteness at dusk? I will be hunting pine goats in the woods and food plots mainly. Thanks

Never used a Zeiss but you can't go wrong with the Leupold.

I have always been a fan of leupold even though I currently have a nikon on my 7mm now. Just out of curiosity why isn't nikon in the mix?

I think it's a no brained to go with the Leupold over the Zeiss simply due to have 14 power over 10 power.
The VX3 is my next scope purchase. I'm currently deciding on a custom rifle for me that I've been putting off for years.

Nothing against Nikon. I had a Monarch that was great in low light I just couldn't keep it from fogging up. They repaired it 3x in 4 years for the same issue. It was perfect until the seal failed. I finally got rid of it after the last repair and got the VX2. I asked for a new scope but they declined.

I have both of the telescopes you mentioned.
If you are looking to stay as low cost as possible, go with the Zeiss you simply cannot beat it for the money. It is a fantastic optic that will not let you down in your described hunting conditions.
That said, if you have a little more to spend I would highly recommend going to the Leupold website and clicking on their custom shop link. Build your own scope, with the features you like, and have a quality scope for the rest of your life. I have done this and cannot emphasize how great the Leupold guys were, they even called to double check all of the specs before they started building it and gave me their insight. Worth far more than the little bit extra it cost.

I didn't either, but it does make sense after you think of it.

Yeah it's pretty cool, try it out on the custom shop site. You can pick your reticle, even add a ballistic reticle custom tailored to a load, have your name engraved on it, etc.

I just looked at the Custom shop site.I will likely buy the VXIII there and go with a BDC reticle.I am going to call them Monday and see about the caliber customization.
My wife saw the site and now wants a pink scope...
