I don't think there is anyway he can play MLB at LSU or in the SEC. He's too lean.

And I don't think he starts as a RSFr. A JR at the earliest. His tape looks great because they play nobody. He's bigger & faster than everyone, even some offensive lineman.

There is a reason he was offered so late, & only extended a gray shirt, I think it has more to do with the future players at John Curtis. He's a team captain & very well respected by all. While I think he is LSU material, I sense he may get caught in a numbers game, considering the LBs we took last year

this last statement you make about the backers taken last year makes the most sense...too lean now maybe at 205. If he comes here he will be put on a diet and workout plan to gain weight...he may get caught up in the numbers, true...but if he is a true baller he will defy the odds by out working everyone else....i think that he is the type of kid who would take on the challenge...if not then he may ride the pine but he just doesnt strike me as that kind of person to accept mediocrity...

That or you can't grasp what he is saying. You could be right. Or he could be right. Your position is no more correct than his at this point in time.

If Duke commits here I have $1 that says he starts as a red-shirt freshman or at the very least gets playing time...of the people you just named i still say he is the most technically sound MLB of the class...

I agree. He's got instincts and that's hard to teach. His physical skills are also better than most people think. He hasn't reached his full potential yet, but he will. Plus having a stacked depth chart can change. Players transfer or other things happen.

Duke might be the most overrated player out there by Tiger fans.

He has Ole Miss, TCU and not a damn thing else. Not Nebraska or a Tx Tech or a Louisville or a Arizona yet yall want to put him on full ride. LSU can get better players this year or next instead of offering him to keep him away from Ole Miss essentially.

He is good, pretty damn good but let's get serious about what caliber players we should expect here.

Hate to break the news to you but TCU has a better history of sending LBs to the NFL than LSU. TCU has sent 4 to LSU's 2 since 2007. Also, Ole Miss has sent 2 during that time. It would be wise for any school to pay attention to who TCU thinks is good on defense. Of course, in fairness, I believe a lot of TCU's success has less to do with what comes in as much as how they are developed while at TCU.

As for Riley, he is a little undersized so he probably would perform better in the more pass happy Big12 rather than the run oriented SEC. But I suspect he isn't thinking about that and will end up at Ole Miss when it is all said and done as he has seemed to favor them throughout the process.

On a pay board so I won't post everything, but Riley was just quoted that he received a full scholarship for next year. No longer a grey shirt. It is now between LSU and Tulane. Judging by some of his tweets, they may have the lead.

Is Duke of any relation to Dietrich Riley who plays for UCLA?

THE reason that Riley hasn't gotten many SEC offers is size. Has the instincts, speed, smarts to be a great MLB. Let Moffitt do his magic and hope he's not bulemic like Welter was.

You sure about this?

I'm as big a Tulane fan as there is, but if he's got a non grey-shirt offer from Lsu then he'll end up in BR.

Is Dietrich from around here? I see he's listed as being from Pasadena, CA so that leads me to believe no.
But Riley has a really athletic family.
His cousins Draper Riley, Corey Smith and Quinlan Carrol will all be D1 freshman next year.

Is he still going to USM? I was kind of surprised he didn't get bigger offers. That West Jeff team was loaded with D1 level seniors.

If there is still a spot left once coaches determine if either or both Jackson & Bowers want in this class, then I would hope Riley gets a regular (non grey-shirt) offer to complete this class.

He would probably redshirt next season anyway.

As others have posted, this would still be an outstanding class, even without Willis or Foster.
