I haven't played it by it looks awesome for a side scroll. Check out some YouTube clips of it.

For a side scroller, Shadow Complex was pretty damn good

Super meat boy is few years old, but I recommend it. Can be very hard so I'd avoid if you can't deal with a little frustration.
Last two games to make a big splash on xbla were trials evolution and minecraft.

i was bored, and dloaded some indie demos rom xbla
the lazer tag, nerf gun games were kind of silly, although it was cool that your xbox character was in the game.
They had one for Comedy, open mic, it could of been a funny game, if people stuck to telling jokes, etc. But i knew, what exactly was going to happen, and it only took the 2nd person on the stage for it to go down. He starting yelling the N-Word nonstop. I figured that was what would happen to it. Kids acting the fool, instead of actually trying to be funny.

There is a game called "The Cave" its pretty cool. Had some points to spend so i got it.
There are like 7 characters and they all have a backstory and you descend into The Cave which has a mind of its own and well shite its kinda hard to explain. But its a side scrolling puzzle game.
You pick three characters at a time and you can switch between them and control them at will.
Something to look into. From what ive read it has about 6-8 hours of gameplay

Beyond Good and Evil is a pretty solid XBLA game imo.
