Dog Trainer: Who should I use?

I have to make a decision on if I am going to use a local trainer or Anderson Ranch Gundogs which is ~8 hours away. The local trainer has 20-30 dogs at anyone time and the other trainer only takes 8 dogs at a time. Clearly the nonlocal trainer would be able to give her more time and attention. With cost being the same besides traveling to and from of course, what would you do? I don't know a whole lot about the other trainer but they have very good dogs and have produced numerous champions. I am concerned that if I go local she wont get the attention she needs if she doesnt fit in "the program".
What would you do?

Wait, you got another GSP? 
I will also sit in this thread and see. I am probably going to send my dog out this year, and your results will help me make my decision

GF insisted we get another one and I agreed. My male is doing great and had an awesome year this season. I'm not going to have a dog that isnt well trained so I'm gonna send her off.

The two labs I have hunted with that were sent out werent any better than mine ive trained at home. They may actually be worse.

I just got a lab/brittany spainel mix that I was looking to get trained, but I'm just going to do it myself. It's not the cost that really bothers me, it's the time that it would be away. I'd rather build a bond with the dog than send it away for 4-6 months.
Now, I've never trained a dog before, so I have no idea how this is going to turn out. Reading as much as I can and getting advice from people I know who train.

For basic obediance I have kept mine in the house as puppies. This way I am always interacting with them. They learn my language and I learn theirs.
Best way I learned to make one stay until commanded is dont let them eat until you tell them too. make them sit. Put food out. Wait for a while then tell them to eat. They will pick it up very quickly.
There are some really good tips and books out there. Obviously, the more you read and enlighten yourself. The better you will be at training.

Patience is by far your best friend while training a dog.

What my dad would do with his GSP's is send them up to his buddy who lives in Montana during the summer for a couple of weeks. Wild birds everywhere, it's crazy how fast they can learn when you let them loose and allow them to do their thing. He started all of his pups like this, great way for them to build a nose.

Duck, not enough other birds around here.
This is the best by far. I've done this with all my dogs for 15 years now.
I can "train" my dogs, but I don't have the skills or resources to do it as good as I expect it so I prefer to send them off. I can reinforce and bring my dog along once they have the basics.
Sounds like none of you would send your dogs off???

Yep, for upland 90% is built in they just need birds the wilder the better...

I had a english setter/pointer mix once. Smartest damn dog Ive ever had.
He trained very easily. Would point and hold etc. Maybe I just got a good dog. He didnt run wide radius. He naturally stayed pretty close to me so I didnt have to fight that issue.
GSP has a little more energy I believe.
Best two labs I have ever seen, my neighbor in college trained himself. He worked them 15-20 minutes everyday. Honestly I think that is the trick to having a good retriever. He didnt yell or get aggravated with his. Watched him tell his dogs to stay once, he left for the store and they didnt move until he got back and told them to go.
Ive never seen a dog professionally trained that was worth a shite though so my opinion is tainted.
