I've been following the beta. Blizzard is all over the place right now. Honestly, I thought about investing my time into that game, but then I was like WTF am I doing. I was really good at BW but these kids practice like 10 hours per day, and there is no way I have time to compete with that. I just watch the VOD's now.
As far as the expansion, I think Blizzard is far far away from solidifying the game.

Pretty much. The strategies change so much and you have to learn counters for everything. When a single match takes a minimum of 30 minutes (usually) and you are getting hit with something different each match, it is very difficult to learn (especially if you get smurfed).
I just play them for the campaign and every now and then shoot the shite in custom games.

I probably won't be playing the beta, but I got to diamond a couple times in wings of liberty. Looking forward to the new release. If they go diablo 3 on it I'm gonna go fricking berserk though.

I'm always wanting to play SC2 cause I used to play the hell out of the original but never get around to it because I know how much time it takes to get good. Those Asian kids are ridiculous with it.

On of my favorite memories with when a friend tried to overload me with a zerg attack. Little did he know i had a massive army of siege tanks in the front of my base with bunkers. he pretty much quit then

It's like everything. The more I learn about graphics the more i care. I didn't used to know what tearing is and now that I know it drives me crazy.

I haven't played SC in over a year. Everytime I try to play there is some mandatory update that takes 30+ min to download and install.
There must be a way to bypass it if I just want to play offline?

I don't think you can play offline with any of Blizzard's games anymore...I remember a bunch of people bitching about not being able to LAN with SC2 and D3.
