re: Louisiana senator asks if E. coli evolve into persons

He was trying to make a point and the video shows that. Life can evolve over time but the real argument here is can one species evolve into another species...specifically humans. There is no solid evidence that humans began as monkeys. The proof is just not there.

Because humans didn't evolve from monkeys. We have a common ancestor. BIG difference and one that most people fail to grasp.

What did this common ancestor evolve from?

Just to give you a small idea on the timescale we are looking at:

You post that as some sort of fact. Is it your belief it is a fact?

Uhhhh just where is the proof? Look I don't deny evolution but I have never seen any proof, only speculation, that evolution has occurred from one family of organisms into another.

It is amazing to me the people who swallow every theory of evolution that has ever been proposed as fact.

Hominid Timeline

Homo Sapiens fossils cannot be found older than 100,000 years. Many other hominid fossils have been found and dated millions of years older.

If homo sapiens didn't exist 1 million years ago, but some other hominid, like Australopithicus did, how did modern humans get here if not gradually via evolution?

Still waiting on your response.

Where did homo sapiens come from if not via evolution given that they are not in the fossil record older than 100k years ago but many other non-human hominids are?

At that point the good senator asks if the E. coli evolved into a person.

Doesn't surprise me. I've been told by friends in the Power industry that the people serving on the regulatory commission for the state are mostly not engineers. I had a EE friend tell me a funny story of trying to explain imaginary power to a politician on the commission.

theory of evolution
there's your answer

it just happens to be the most likely scenario

what should be amazing to you are the people that dismiss it entirely in favor of ancient myths

Where in that timeline you post is a single cell organism? or even a jump from one family of organisms to another as the poster claimed?

There is no question man has evolved. We can see that over the last century as average heights have risen. But there is not, none , nada that this evolution began as single cell organism or as an ape.

We read just this week a scientist believes he can create a neanderthal man from DNA taken from bones and a willing woman host. You don't hear any scientist say he can create an ape/man hybrid. Neanderthal man was just that---man.

Sounds like he was baiting the teacher into admitting not every organism evolves into a creature.

More smoke than fire IMO

That's pretty bad, but it could be worse.

He could have been worried about Guam tipping over due to a Navy base,
or if the Mars rover would go and view the American flag left by the astronauts.

Really? How about homo ergaster? What about Australopithicus?

The older hominids are really not very human at all. You're contradicting yourself. You're saying you get that hominids evolved into humans, but Neandertals are man? Dude, c'mon. Two totally different species.

Further,if you accept that early hominids evolved into other species, why cant you extrapolate that evolution process back billions of years? Cant you see that early hominids evolved from something else? We obviously dont have the fossil record to show exactly the path that occured, but shit, 50 years ago there wasn't a Lucy. As more and more of the gaps are filled in with fossil evidence, we can trace the evolutionary path back even further.

Just because the fossil evidence doesn't exist today, doesn't mean that australopithicus didn't evolve from some other creature that existed millions or billions of years earlier.

Fossil evidence supports evolution. It doesn't support creationism, period. I dont know how this doesn't make logical sense to you guys.
