His brother is the more celebrated one and he deserves it but i think john is the most underrated coach in the nfl. People assume that the ravens were a powerhouse when he took over even though they went 6-10 billicks last year. John has made the playoffs every year and won atleast one playoff game every year, made 3 afc title games, winning one and was a simple catch away from 2. He's beaten the patriots in foxborough twice in the playoffs. He's brought in great players like flacco, pierce, pitta, kruger, boldin and really built the ravens into a team with an offense to complement their defense

None are "great" players.

Well, that actually speaks more to his coaching abilities, doesn't it? Especially since it is the GMs job to bring in players.

You forgot to put Billy Cundiff on your "great players" list.

I agree. The Harbaughs seem like it's in their blood to be a great coach. I know the media will overdue it with all the attention but they obviously deserve a lot of praise

this team had talent on defense because of ozzie but Brian Billick (worst SB winning HC ever) left the offensive side of the ball in just awful shape

props to harbaugh and he's added to the talent on D

You would call Flacco "great"?

Actually, I love what the Ravens front office does. Star players cost a lot of money, and due to the cap, it forces you to make cuts elsewhere to save money. It is better to have "no stars" or more accurately, no real expensive players and thereby have no holes to cover up. The Ravens are strong everywhere, but excellent almost nowhere. It's a great team building strategy in a capped league.

Define great.

I would say a top 7 or 8 QB in the NFL is great. If you dont think he is top 8 in the league at this point then you are an idiot.
If you don't think top 8 is a great QB then that is a difference of opinion.

Not to mention the fact that Flacco is the reason why the Ravens are going to be playing in the Super Bowl this year. He also has more postseason road wins than any other QB.

I agree with your sentiment but I don't think it applies here. Ngata, Lewis, Reed, Rice, Suggs, Boldin, etc. get paid premium dollars.

What the Ravens excel at is player personnel and coaching. They do an excellent job drafting and developing players to supplement their key star players.
