His form on his jumper is solid enough. I don't think he'll ever be an above-average outside shooter, but a 16-foot game could suffice with his other abilities. He has a somewhat slow jumper, but his release is very high and he uses a high arch, so he isn't going to get blocked. I could see his offense developing like a more athletic, slightly less consistent Brandon Bass. He seems very comfortable dribbling in the run out, but struggles in the half court. It almost seems like he overthinks it.

I think the problem for a lot of people is we were still trying to replace Chris Paul and most people wanted another Chris Paul to replace Chris Paul (understandably) and Vasquez is just an entirely different type of player, but he's effective in different ways. I would love to see him work on a post-up game to take advantage of his size. Whereas guys like Paul can use their speed to wear him down in pursuit, he could use his size to do it physically down low.

What I was and still am banging on is the "fit." I think this is the thing that our staff is doing very well based off of the San Antonio system. For a small market team, you need to ensure that your roster is greater than the sum of the parts, and that is clearly the case with a Gordon/Vasquez back court. You're seeing the same thing with the front court now. You don't need a stereotypical center, per se. You need to be able to guard a center. So, you can mix and match skills to cover defensive needs. With the pick/roll game in the NBA now, that diversified skill set is very important to any playoff success.
