No volume, no volatility. Same ole, same ole every day. It doesn't go up enough to short it and it doesn't go down enough to go long.

I'm with you man, Something big needs to happen already. I either want dark green gains, or blood in the streets, meow

You could always try roulette or craps. It's offseason in Vegas, you should go!

I like my odds better in the stock market, but thanks for the suggestion.

The odds are definitely better in the market, I thought it was excitement you were after.

Don't know if I would call +330 bps on the SP 500 and +400 bps on the SP 1500 Energy in half a month "boring"

Trade some biotech stocks. That'll get you going.

If you look at the 50 day moving average, it's been a steady increase since 2009. I don't know what's not to like unless you are day trading...

From my understanding, he does a lot of that.

Earnings season has started on a positive note with EBAY, GS, and JPM. Great upside in homebuilders, financials, and energy right now.

AT&T is going to be a drag tomorrow. They announced some warnings after the market closed today. T was down over 2% in after hours trading the last I looked. GE announces earnings Friday.

thread highjack: anyone in here trade or do much research into energy MLPs? i've been reading about them for quite a while but have yet to make a move. Just looking for some thoughts from others. Ive considered ETP for a nice long yield. Also considered RGP for possible merger with ETP. CVR refining also intrigues me as an IPO.

Pretty good for a part-time hobby. I keep all of my trades on Excel so it's easy for me to keep track of the transactions and results. In 2011 I netted (after all transaction costs) a profit of 22 basis points on the total of my trades. Last year I netted 28 bp. In the 13 trading days this year, including today, I've netted 46 bp. Over half of that was on one big trade in GE. I bought GE two weeks ago anticipating they were going to have a good 4th quarter, which they did and which they announced this morning before the market opened. I sold all of my GE this morning at $22.04 in pre-market trading. I don't anticipate maintaining this pace throughout 2013. I don't take much risk. The GE trade was the most risk I've taken in a loooonnnnnggggg time, maybe ever. I consider a long-term holding in my trading portfolio to be anything in my account that is there when the sun goes down. It's a fun hobby that I spend maybe an hour or two playing each trading day.

Exactly. Someone like me would be comfortable now. The last year has been very nice. I'm not a day trader though.
