One of the most overrated players to ever sign with LSU. Amazing this player was a McDonald's All American. Astonishingly bad basketball player.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. He had a shitty game, but he's still one of our best players. He's maybe trying to do much and forcing things like shots and fouls as opposed to letting the game come to him, which I think is a major change that Stringer has successfully made this season as compared to previous ones. I hope that JOB3 will be back in decent form in the coming days/weeks. I thought it was a positive to see our second string guys play so well late in the game. Good game by Morgan for sure.

Who were the clowns that predicted this team to make the big dance?

Me! I perhpas was a little over-enthusastic, but I still like this team a lot. The last few games have sucked, but we're more exciting than last year to watch. I think if things click for a couple of guys, and maybe even Jones, we can hit our stride and win some games still.

Morgan is an above average SEC defensive player right now. If he can just develop some offense he'll be a playuh down the line.

But too many of our players seem to be stagnating or regressing right now. Time to start elevating play now that SEC is started or it's gone be uglier than I thought in a bad conference.

As I said, we've already lost two of our more winnable games.

Morgan has been a pleasant surprise after not doing much at all at the end of non-conference slate. Hopefully we can get more offense from him.

Some more comments North Texas fans had for Johnny Jones:
quote:

Wow! I can't believe a team hires an experienced, 20 win, D1 coach and then struggles a bit in the first year. I have been told that hiring that resume will always create a great winning program instantly. How can it be? The sky muSt be falling. Armageddon is upon us all! Hide the women and children. Seriously, UNT90 has a point for you to hang your at on. JJ has a knack of seeming to peak at the right time. Hold your horses grasshopper, you guys will be fine. Just remember, you really were not lightening up the SEC before JJ got there. Relax...enjoy the ride, support the Tigers...you will be OK with JJ at the helm.

I really think part of his problem is basketball IQ are lack there of.

That would go a long way in being a AA type player I think.

I have had my share of criticism of JOB but to say he is astonishly bad is just going too far. He is playing hurt right now. When he is healthy have you ever seen him sky and jank down a rebound. Very impressive at times. Have you seen him when he does that quick inside pivot to the baseline and lays it up on the other side of the basket? There have even been times when he has hit a good percentage of his jump shots. His main problems are getting into foul trouble too easily, poor technique on his jump shot and bad decision making when he gets the ball.

These are far from small things but the guy still has tremendous potential and is far from bad.

Agree. I have a hard time calling a 19 year old "One of the most overrated players to ever sign with LSU".

I'd say Lester Earl, Regis Koudja and Harold Boudreaux to name 3 off the top of my head are 3 that were rated even higher than JOB3 out of high school and one could say didn't ever bring what JOB3 has if you compare the best moments of all.

I think the frustrating thing for me is that I've seen some glimpses of what he can be. The Northwestern and Arkansas games last year, and heck the Kentucky game he actually played pretty darn well. He had about 3 straight double-double games earlier this year.

But the glimpses are too infrequent. He still keeps making the same fundamental mistakes over and over. Bringing the ball too low, dribbling too much, traveling too much, fouling too much, poor shot selection.

And now to top that all off he's playing hurt and he's really pressing. This is is worst stretch since he's been here.

I know he's better, but sometimes the mental part of the game just beats these kids. I hope he can overcome it.
